ty 250 brake spring loading?

ty 250 brake spring loading?

Hi all. Trying to load this spring on the rear brake of my foot pedal of my 1975 ty 250b...anyone give any advice as its not Co operating at all

This is an A model so there is no sidestand mount on the swingarm, but otherwise it is the same.

Hi mate thanks I know how it goes but I can't get the spring in place there is not enough room for a lever I put the one end of thvspring in the little hole but the spring is loose in place.. so I figure I have to load it somvhow

it might fit easier if you take the pedal arm off the shaft, then fit the shaft through the spring, then fit the pedal arm on again. That way you can load up the spring before you attach the pedal arm. That's what I do anyway

Hey Dave yea I got the pedal arm off...I must be missing the basic of this lol it seems that to load it every thing from the uprights of the frame,a stop lug,and rotation seem to stop this from occuring I will have another crack. This morning

This is the result I am getting. As you can see there is no load on that spring at all

by the look of the way the coils on your spring are misaligned, and the end is in the wrong spot, I'd say that the spring might have been bent/overloaded or twisted
I just looked at a TY175 spring thinking that you may have one of those, but the TY175 spring shape is nothing like the TY250 spring so it is not that

Yea I was sort of thinking of maybe putting in a vice and try to bend it back it certainly looks like it been abused in some way

That worked mate just bent it back a bit and it is working fine now thanks for your help mate hey
