I've bought myself a 1985 Honda TLR250 & the muffler is stuffed.
The bike has been used mainly for farm work & the end muffler has rusted thru in a few spots.
I have heard of the end muffler being chopped off, just behind the shock.
Has anybody out there done this & how well did it work?
Was the bike too loud afterwards & did it change the performance at all?
Any help / advice appreciated.
Yes I do know there is a trick alloy muffler available but the "Fun Tickets" don't stretch that far at the moment.
Cheers,

Re: TLR 250 Muffler chop
G'day Gary I have cut my muffler just were it thins out behind the shock, i prized the metal open & slotted 2 pieces of pipe 20mm OD about 130mm long in to the opening then welded it all up, still sounds quiet & goes well, i faced the pipes on a downward angle hope this helps!
