Interesting personalised TY250s seen at the NSW titles

Post by David Lahey »

This one has lots of interesting stuff all over it. Handmade aluminium fuel tank, handmade aluminium/steel exhaust, handmade airbox etc... and some very interesting frame mods
Anyone want to have a go at picking what has been done? I had great fun trying to work it out

Yeh, very interesting bike. Was intrigued by the mods when it was posted on the Twinshock thread but pics weren't clear enough. Looks nice

Looks to me like the major frame mods involved moving the engine forward & perhaps raising it or tilting it slightly (higher at the front?), then moving swingarm pivot forward somewhat & down a little to fit longer swingarm. Toolbox etc seems to be removed. Front engine mount no longer attaches thro bracket behind the downtubes but thro a hole in the downtubes (or thro a bracket on the end of the down-tubes instead of behind them). That allows engine to be moved forward, perhaps with some fins trimmed on the front. May have some of the frame-tube below the footpegs removed too for increased ground clearance, but can't see that area very well.

Italjet? With the shock mount relocated rearwards on the swingarm. And chain tensioner added.

Top shock mount on the frame moved forward a little too of course.

Nice alloy-work on the bike too - forkbrace, bashplate, brake stays etc. How think is that bashplate?

I just wanted to ask how did that TY get through machinery with no rear sprocket guard on it? The top rear frame tubes and mudguard mounts have been removed as well. Graham.

Just for record bike wasn't entered in event so no issue re sprocket guard.
All bikes entered went through scrutineering and sprocket guards amongst other things were checked
