Trials Bike Prices $1000 Residual Prices

Post by DanielSherco290 »

:beta :gasgas :montesa :scorpa :sherco

Im after a 2nd bike so I can go out for a ride with friends when they come stay for weekends etc.......And it seems that 2nd hand trials bike prices are very unusual....

I bought my GasGas 2011 250 for $5000 3 month ago....... so in 2 years basically it lost 50% of its value from new,

So......How and Why are people selling 1995 GasGas 250 JTRs for $2000..... are we really saying in 16 years the bike depreciates 3 grand....But in the first 2 years they depreciate 5 grand......

People selling year 2000 models for $3k.........

And don't compare it to twin shocks, thats a old boy collectors item game...Antiques if you like....But still even all that is crazy, guys paying 3k for old Bultaco s that wouldn't even be $500 in the UK

I just want a second bike for a $1000, Mono Shock, Disc Brakes..........If anyone has a bike around this price please let me know.

A new gas gas or sherco is more like 9200 cash. Can pick up a 1 year old at 7k but more like 7.5 and a 2 year old at 5.5 to 6.5k depending on condition. You got a bargain. As for a 13 year old bike at 1k, if its a half decent mount it will bring 2,5 k easily. If you are looking to get a bike of the calibre you seek, I suggest you dont hold your breath. Top end late models are usually picked up at very good savings as many older riders freshen up every year and there in lies the savings as these come back each year purchasers get a good discount for their loyalty I would assume.

Dont know when you last tried to buy a twinshock bike here in the UK,but $500 Aus dollars will only buy a box of bits now.Even a Yam mono that has been cow chasing seems to be £800+. £1000 will buy a working bike of some sort - but will need work to make it a useful tool.

Haha......A Yam thats been Cowchasing! Great banter ha

But like i say a 2011 been 5k and a 1995 been 2k.....16 years and only drops 3 grand...... I only wish my car held its value the same.....

Thanks Lads let us know even if a cow chaser comes up!

I was in the UK recently and walked some of the old sections we used to use and got all inspired again, that's when I started reading this forum.
I'm the same, can't believe how expensive good second hand bikes are here compared to the UK, only thing I can come up with is the trials scene here is much smaller, meaning there are fewer second hand bikes on the market.
I guess the flipside of that is the bikes in the UK get a harder time with all the crap and goop they are ridden in all the time
