ty175 kickstart

Post by wil15424 »

Hi all just set up for a ride out the back reserve, new boots on (first ride) kenny helmet & wulfsport gloves fakin it till I make it! 8)
feeling like I can tackle a double blip, splat up a 4 foot vertical. 8) =D> \:D/ first kick ooohh bugger that doesn't look right #-o the kickstart lever has twisted around on the knuckle due to it splitting
so I clutch started it as I wanted to start to break in the boots etc. Anyway because the kickstart was broke I decided not to attempt the DBL blip, splat with half twist as that would have been irresponsible on a bike that wasn't right.   yeah nah I would have had a go at it but um ah yeah.
Any way does anyone have a kickstart lever they would sell ? just the top lever or the lot ?
all the gear felt pretty good too, just need to spend time on the bike & skill up heaps.
big cheers
Wil

There's one for sale over this side of the ditch, but has been repaired: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/parts-for-sale/other/auction-645685678.htm

The lever should still be available from Yamaha Australia as a spare part, and so is the whole assembly. Last couple of assemblies I bought were from TYTRIALS in the UK and they cost about $160 each a few years ago. At the time the Aussie Yamaha prices were a fair bit higher than that, but things might have changed since then
I wouldn't recommend using a welded lever. Lots have tried it but never seen one last for long. Some people fit a kickstart lever from an RD250/350 water cooled road bike. I don't think they clear the standard footpeg though.
relax, nothing is under control
