TLR 250 Peg mounts

Post by Gary B »

Howdy all,
I'm looking at lowering the pegs on my TLR250.
I've been able to find a fair bit of info "On-line" but all the mounts shown & mod's that have been done show different peg mounts to whats on my TLR.
I've attached pictures of my mounts.
Any Ideas ??????????

Thanx in advance.

Hi Gary,
The Honda TLR frame at the foot peg mount consists of thin sheet metal (hollow between) and the peg mount joins and reinforces the sheet on both sides and will need to be kept. Cut/grind off the peg mounts flush with the outside of frame and throw away along with pegs. Now weld what is left of the flush tube to the frame to stop frame from being crushed and fill the hole of the tube with weld and grind it flush/smooth. Now you are free to extend the frame down and back as per the web instructions. You will need new weld on mounts ( avail all over the place, I got mine from Ballards Offroad) Then you can have your choice of nice fat pegs or whatever. Make sure you measure the size of the peg gap to kick start lever 'before' ordering pegs as some pegs may stick out too much and interrupt the kick lever swing.
Cheers, Langy

Hi Gary,

Maybe the mods you have seen online were done on a 200, which has different peg mounts to the 250?

Hi
This is what the TLR250 peg mounts look like and as langy says cut them off and extend down and back for best results, you can get plates to fix to the original peg mounts like i did till you alter the frame which i have now done (note these were fitted on the wrong side so did not work till i figured out my mistake

As mentioned above, don't rely on 200 peg positions. The 250 is a different beast, needs a different mod, I have seen forward the way to go ?????? Not sure, they are a little firey so don't rush in .

Had a weekend in the Shed & the Peg mounts now look like this.

Peg mounts are now down 25mm & back 12mm on standard position.

Hopefully get a ride this weekend & see how it feels.

Pegs feel great at the new position.
Now I've just finished the next part of my TLR Project.
Big Flat bash plate.
I had a hard time finding what I wanted. 6mm 7075 T6 plate.
Then I couldn't bend it.
Luckily my brother is a spring maker & had the right gear to help me out.

What to you think ???

It looks beautiful Gary, but what were the shortcomings of the standard bashplate?
relax, nothing is under control
