Hello
I`ve got a Montessa cota 247T which has been sitting in my shed for 30 years or so . Did a bit of a resto on it about 20 years ago . I start it & ride it around the back yard about once a year . I want to change the oils in it but I cant remember the quantities . I think they had 80/90 in the gearbox & A.T.F. in the clutch but could some one please tell me the quantities .
Montessa gearbox oil .

Hello Brute,
Not sure if you have worked it out, but if you email Jared from Southwest Montesa, he will know.
Hope this helps.

Re: Montessa gearbox oil .
G,day Brute,
sorry I haven't responded sooner, SAE 20 for the clutch & SAE 90 for transmission clutch is 200 cc & transmission 300cc on cota's up to '73 according to Clymer publications, I know of others who run ATF in the clutch & haven't mentioned any probs although it seems a little thin to me, can't remember what I run in mine & it's to cold to go out the shed & look. I think the 'T' model wasn't released until '76 but the quantity's should be the same. I'll think a bit more, check out the shed & all being well confirm or add more tomorrow.

Brigalow's specs apply to 74, 75, 76, 77 as well.
The T model has a smaller harmonic balance and gears a bit smaller in diameter, so you will have to guess for this ....emm I reckon the 200cc in clutch and 300cc in box would still get you by, possibly an extra 10-20 cc in each may compensate for the t factor.
