Suppliers of plastics for a 76 yammie 1N4. Advice please

Post by TayIpsilon »

Good evening. I've gotten my little orange and white geisha together and running and when the new chain shows up i hope to give her a test potter around the back yard. She's not and won't wind up tidy but i'd like get a few bits to make her more rideable. She's got dead mudguards at both ends, the sidecover is long gone, and theres no seat. The first and last of those are the important bits but a sidecover will give me the warm and fuzzies.

Is there a good supplier of universal or model specific guards and basics for early TY's in Australia someone can recommend please?

Also half tempted to resurrect the autolube system as i have a spare pump. Is there anyone out there doing repro oil reservoirs?

Last but not least, might i impose on someone with a wiring diagram for a 1N4 please? Have found them online for the 525 model but most sites don't account for the complianced series.

Thank you kindly for your time, glen.

There is an Aussie agent for TY175 plastics which are made by DC plastics in the US. DC plastics mudguards and sidecover look realistic from a distance and are crash resistant. I can't remember the name of the aussie agent right now but you would probably find it using google search (maybe "VMX unlimited"?)
There are a few aussies have made fibreglass replacements over the years, including seat bases. I can't remember the name of the people currently doing it but they do advertise on eBay.
Replica plastics that look a lot more like the originals are available from the UK (no Aussie agent)
Complete seats are available from Sammy Miller Products agents (including Don Newell in Brisbane)
Don Newell sells the popular Gonelli brand universal trials guards too
1N4 plastics and seat are the same as for the 525 model TY175
relax, nothing is under control

Thank you kindly for the replies. I'm in the comparitive googling phase now so at least thats a step closer than i was so i really appreciate it.

Put a used chain on from my MZ yesterday arve and once i'd trimmed a few links out of it, it was round and round the back garden. Got into sixth in the small area and really lovin the size of that flywheel. May swap out the gear lever and the levers are angled pretty weird but it felt ok once in motion.

Again, thankyou.
