The barrel looks good as you would expect as it 10 times harder.
What I think the problem is, is as the piston comes down its doing a scissor action and forcing the oil away and not between skirt and barrel.
I hope this will force some oil where I want it. The wossner piston is strong so I don't expect it to notice. Having said that I used a fine round file so there are no sharp edges to promote fracture lines.
The reed tips show no signs of touching and fraying.
There is no air gap where the reeds seat so alls good.

Waterproofing has worked
Devcon has stopped the weeping.
Mark the barrel so it can be lined up when the cases are apart for case to barrel matching.
This time everything is coated in oil. A lot more is dropping out of the fuel which has to do with more vacume. The spark plug is saying it's running very rich so I will have to go leaner with the 220 version. This could also be because I haven't been fanging it as much. With the extra spread of power there is always enough bottom end to do the job.

Cases are apart cleaned up and ready to be port matched.
The cases are about 1mm smaller so mark it with a dentist tool.
You can just see the line in this light.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
Get comfortable and this time I'm using a small sanding drum.
Check
Little off the back to match.
This time some has to come off the barrel.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
A little off the case to match the bottom of the sleeve and a little off the barrel.
That much.
Same for the front.
The left side does not have any locating pins so you have to go by the marks previously made when it was togeather below both studs.
Will it make much difference? On its own probably not as it was not to bad to start with. However its the little things that make the whole.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
I was Skyping my brother over Christmas as you do and we got onto my piston problem. He was not a fan of my scavenging system as it dident help fix the problem.
My scavenging system
"That piston is under pressure and it's not happy" "The bridge ports are taking the heat from the piston and getting hot" "You have to blast it with oil" "Oil is stubborn and it takes a lot of heat to move its temperature"
So this is how I interpreted his fix.
First I want to know where the bridges are
Note the scoring is wider than the bridges
"Drill 4, 2mm holes two above and two below"
While im at it open up the front.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
"With a fine file, file slots wider that the bridge"
I cheated and used a dermal.
I did use a file to clean up all the edges to make it smooth.
"Sand the edges with wet and dry, you have to drag that oil out of there"
I use the same cut off wheel so the wet and dry was rounded alittle
"You have to take the sharp edges off as forged Pistons like to crack from there"
Both in the strong part, note
"Make it like a funnel"
I used a round tipped dremal.
The area behind the piston is a vacume compared to the preasure under the piston as it comes down. It's going to force air/fuel/oil through the slots and out the sides. On the up stroke it's going to suck charge in. My scavenging and his blasting system will help it float on a continuous stream of cooling oil.
If you are going to make power then you have to deal with the heat.
"Now you can hold it wide open while the others are seizing"

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
This is my first OEM base gasket and its fit is spot on. All the aftermarket ones are way off
If I didn't match the ports it wouldn't be sticking out and I would use it as is.
Mark it with texter
If I used a sharp blade it would distort so I trimmed it back with a sanding drum.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
I suspected my YZ modifyed auto clutch basket has a wobble in it.
And it did. If I measure the narrowest ones.
They are about 1mm further in.

Re: My long time friend the pransing horse
As that was my test one I'm not to disappointed. It was quite worn anyway.
So this eBay special comes up and it looks good. Good brand and not to used.
The old one is how I left it shims are ok so alls good.
When I take the backing plate off the new one someone had put the countersunk facing in?
