Had a little spare time this afternoon to work on the PIUMA and I am a little bamboozled about the brakes. There is a groove all the way around the shoes leaving the drum untouched in the middle! Both front and back have the same grooved shoes and interchange.

I once had a modified Suzuki 4wd with Austin A35 diffs. The brakes used to fill with mud and not work very well. My dad suggested that we drill holes in the outside of the drums on the braking surface to let the mud out. Unfortunately I was too chicken to try it.

From the looks of that picture I'd say you appear to be wearing the same anti-gravity boots I saw Greg H wearing in one of his photos several years ago. I think you'd find it much easier to get used to riding the Montessa if you'd just wear ordinary boots and let the wheels stay closer to the ground.

Well i got the TLR 250 motor back together & have put it in the frame, then i realised i needed a new muffler so i order 1 of Sammy Miller on the 24th of Feb, imagine my surprise when it arrived today:) this means the only thing i'm waiting on is a new kickstarter, so i should be able to put up some more picks of it by the weekend:)

That looks good Darren. I would say you have found it revs a bit quicker now too. A shorter header pipe has that effect. Graham.
