David, I love the look of that TY175. Very nice. I enjoyed the ride on your
cota 348. It did ride and handle as well as it looks.
Roger, it is good to see you regularly ride your classics and I'm sure the current Cub you are building will be just as nice as the others. Nice to see some photos too.
Rod, yes I think Greg has an advantage over all of us in that he rides so often. I would also have to agree that the technological improvements on his 1983
compared with my 1976
KT250, he had a further advantage of 7 years. It was great to be able to compete against Greg over the Easter 2 day trial and I actually had him worried as he thought I had beaten him over the 2 days by a count back on cleans. I'm definitely in agreeance there with you too Greg, it is more important to have friendly rivalry, than concentrate just on the scores.
I would also like to add that the Easter 2 day Trial, run by Motorcycle Trials Club of Queensland, was very well done, yet again. All the volunteers, including the GOUGH family for all their hard work in getting the property to ride for all of us. Great to see new faces there as well.
Progressing on, I have just acquired a
Cota 200 with a
Cota 242 rolling frame. Bought it without hearing it run, which is always a gamble as the owner said it had no coil/spark. After 30 minutes of cleaning points, cleaning paint off frame where the coil locates, cleaning out carby and hey presto I got spark, got it started and rode around the yard. So this may well be my project for this years twin shock masters in November. Not sure what I will do with the rolling frame as yet.

This is a pic of my basket case over in the States awaiting a rebuild. It's a '83 SWM Jumbo albeit in many pieces....
I have a whole Jumbo over here in OZ to play with so no rush.

Sunday night quiz time.
I posted a photo earlier on today to show something on a Cota 348 frame, but there is a rarely-seen (black coloured) frame hanging up next to the Cota frame. Can anyone (except John Cuff because he already knows) identify it? Here is the photo again

I am no expert, but the lower frame rails curving in under the gearbox into the single central lower hoop looks a bit like a radial fin M27? Bultaco

yes, that is a design feature common to 1960s Bultacos, but the footpegs are on a cross piece rather than mounted near the swingarm pivot as they are on a trials Bultaco
Clues can be found in the shape of the rear frame loop, and now you know it is a Bultaco, the lack of an engine mount on the underside of the engine

Sherpa S has a short rear loop that is angled up steeply. Getting close though
