Hi Everyone, Yes David it is an XR75 tank and it has a lot of bog in it too. Moving on with Greg's TY80 challange, I happen to see that BASKET CASE TY80 big wheel at a die hard Spanish riders place, in particular he prefers the . Any way the gumboot wearing rider may have met with some Japanese influence as seen by the photo, however not wearing his gumboots at all! He has got a big task ahead of himself. It appears that SOME spanish influence has occurred with the BASKET CASE TY80 mounted with a tank. That might be a lot of work to get that fitted Graham!

Hi TerrY. Yes those shoes are my favourite ones. Once again I have had to spend a couple of days in Hospital having a severe course of antibiotics to get over touching one of those imitation Spanish trials bike parts. I don`t think I`ll ever recover from that. Nipper, that nice shiny helmet has been used for quite a few years now and with that very good shade cloth works really well. Graham.
I hope you didn't attempt to ride that Bultaco in those Montesa gumboots Greg! The reaction between the two could be catastrophic!!! If nothing else, the combination certainly would not ride well. Even pushing the Bultaco wearing those is ill-advised...
Well said Stout. Most would classify those gumboots as positively evil and should be kept as far away as possible from anything . Greg you should be ashamed to even have them in your possession.
Here's something to truly spew over for Graham and other Bully fanatics out there, 1974 Cota 247, I don't know if the engine is a basket case yet as I've not tried to start it, only got it delivered late today but rolls over ok, apparently was a goer about 2 years ago. Time will tell. Everything else looks good right down to the well worn rear sprocket with the 'Montesa' logo engraved in it and what appears to be the original telesco rear shocks, seller also supplied two new replica alloy mudguards as seen. Pretty happy so far.
Nice bike Rod. Always tho't they were a nice looking model. Brings back memories of the early 70s. I have one in the shed too that needs a bit more work than yours. I live in hope that one day I'll get to it.

It's great to know that there are still old trials bike like Rod's 247 out there and looking so much like how they looked back when they were newish. Nice to ride too. I remember having a go on one of Cedric Van Heerden's 247s just after it had an engine rebuild and it felt wonderfully forgiving to ride, with nice, light handling and a lovely motor. It is easy to see how captured market share from in the early 1970s with the 247 I'm surprised to see the original guards not creased or cracked or bent and wonder how much off-road use the bike has had
