Hi Dirt-drifter, are you interested in twinshock or the older bikes events because you list your bike in your profile as a GG280 so there are a few events you wouldn't bother with.
Take them out of the Qld calendar and you don't have too much left for your MQ licence fee unless the organisers put in support classes for modern bikes !!
What class/bike do you normally ride ?

Hi Everyone,
Toby Coleman wrote:Hey everyone,

Just curious if you have all had a chance to read the new Rule Changes for 2017? A couple of Changes below. Whats everyone's thoughts?

20.11.2.3
Riders must attempt the sections in
sequential order. Promoter has the
ability to start individual classes at
different sections on the course.

Any one that was at Round 1 of the NSW Titles (all 44 riders) I'm sure will agree that this didn't work. I didn't ride and got to see it first hand. A massive line of riders following behind the few Expert riders.

Toby, I still have not read or fully understand the 2017 rule changes. However I would like to commend Logan River Motorcycle Trials Club (LRMTC) for choosing to ignore the ridiculous sequential rule at yesterday's excellent Trial.

Who makes up these ridiculous moronic changes Anyway?

It seems THEY are not Trials riders.

Only resemblance I can see is THEY keep their feet up..........

on a desk in some dimly lit room in the bowels of Motorcycling Australia dreaming up ways to try and justify their existence?

At the polar opposite end of ideas are the brilliant brains trust that has come up with:

Juniors under 12 get to ride for free in Queensland!

Can we PLEASE leave decisions that effect Trials Riders to people that actually ride and/or are involved in Motorcycle Trials?

Yes Greg that was us folk on the MQ Trials Sub Committee trying to attract more young riders into the sport. There is also a movement towards the Clubs paying their Restricted Licence fees as well which I am in favour of. We just hope it works. We will be reviewing it at the end of the year though. Graham.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you Graham and MQ Trials Sub Committee, it is the best well thought out, heart in the right place idea that I have heard and seen in Trials ever!

Will your respective clubs be ignoring the half baked, less than half explained, more than half comfusing sequential rule at your Trials?

Now that I think about, maybe it came from a HALFWIT :?:

Greg,

Whilst I don't really understand or agree with the rule, it was reported in the Trials Commission minutes last year. It was raised by the Trials Commission itself and an explanation was provided in the minutes and then repeated when the changes to the rules were announced. The Trials Commissioners are volunteers from the trials community and there are regular requests in MA for volunteers to fill the position of Trials Commissioner as vacancies arise. There is a process for any trials member of the community to request changes to the rules and it is used frequently. There is a cut off date which has passed for this year but if you send a comment or request now, it will be included in the agenda for next year. If you still don't like the outcome from that, you are able to nominate as a Commissioner so you are able to influence changes more directly in the future.

The reasons put up have some logic but I think they will largely be ignored by most clubs and riders. The rule may be enforced at Aus Titles but it would involve some further requirements on Observers to check that the rider has completed the previous section. This will be an added responsibility that can lead to more stress on these volunteers.

At the Logan trial, my day was made shorter by bypassing long queues and going to a quieter section. I was careful to avoid unnecessary back tracking around the loop.

To help your cause, it would be wise to identify your nearest Commissioner and have a quiet chat about the situation. If that is not successful, send a submission to the Trails Commission on the form on the MA website and follow its progress through the system. You may be amazed that the system actually works. If you don't get the outcome, you will be able to see the reasons that the Commission behind the decision making.

Hope this helps the situation.
