Model which has stripe along bottom of tank then up wards then back looping behind filler hole Q1 the width of the black pinstripe Q2 the distance from say middle of pinstripe nearest to seat to the back of filler hole metal ring Also any advice on doing two tone paintwork ie correct line between yellow/white Info on doing pinstripe ie a business that can make pinstripe to a template] Any other tips would be much appreciated cheers

Pinstripes like the black line on the TY250B tank are usually painted on nowadays.

Sequence:
Paint black on tank over primer
Mask the black stripe with correct width flexible masking tape
Mask off the white side of the stripe
Paint the yellow
Mask off the yellow side of the stripe
Paint the white

A good reference for how far back the top loop goes is to look at the brochure shot.
You can see the brochure photo here http://www.yamahaty.com/english/brochuresen/1975en.html

I'm not certain of the width of the black stripe because I don't have any original B model tanks.
I think it is the same stripe as the C model which I could measure but there will probably be someone with an original B model tank who can measure it

The other methods are:
You can buy pinstripe tape from Auto stores. Easy.
Paint. You need 'lining tape' from a Auto paint outlet, It is low-tack tape which will peel off after painting the line without lifting the tank paint off. (Lining tape- Not to be confused with masking tape, it's more like a plastic insulation tape)

Say the pinstripe you want is 3mm wide, buy 3mm lining tape (which will bend around tight curves). Warm the tape may help if it needs to go around really tight curves
Lay down the tape in the stripe position, then lay tape along on either side of this, butting to it, then remove the first (middle) line tape. Make sure the 2 lines of tape are rubbed down well and the 'pinstripe' area is nice and clean. Then with a brush, paint the line using enamel paint. Finally, carefully remove the 2 lengths of lining tape, I find removing it before the paint dries is best, as the paint can crack at the edges if the paint has hardened.
