David, the contents of the plastic bag are cylinder fin rubbers:

Does not rust! Tick!
Foreign to a ? No! JC and JE have vibration rubbers between the fins
What I am talking about? No!
Surely someone on here has owned a and can pick the foreign part?

They are in a bag and when I looked up the part number, it was a blinker rubber mount.
Both of these photos are a clue!

but I suspect that the non-Yamaha thing we are looking for is the second shift lever. One shift lever looks like a IT175 shifter and would work on a TY175 but the other one looks decidedly too long and -ish

and then I just noticed something else that looks a bit odd. One of the engine mount bolts is too shiny and free of corrosion to be the item so maybe that's the ring-in part

Hi everyone,
Bloody great score there Greg. Having restored a few TY175’s I am reasonably familiar with TY parts. I have studied both photos Greg and I see a part that looks like a hook between the back end of the exhaust and the engine side cover in the second photo, but I can’t find it in the first photo. It looks similar to a rubber that would fit underneath a tank, but not entirely sure. I have studied the photos for some time and it really is a “Where’s Wally” mission... Thanks Greg!!!

I am not sure how you define "foreign to Yamaha" but the handlebars don't look genuine Yamaha - particularly the blue one. The genuine Yamaha handlebars are chrome steel but those look like they are aluminium. Also the rear shocks are not genuine Yamaha - more like Mulhollands. They probably all were once fitted to a Yamaha.

OK tonight I decided to try and look for a pattern in the way Greg sets up these brain numbing trivia mystery photos.
I remembered that Greg sometimes shows a mystery object in plain sight but doesn't show it well enough for it to be clearly seen even when blown up enormously on a screen.
Well my current theory for the mystery object is the spark plug which is in plain view, but too blurry to read the writing on. I'm thinking it is a branded sparkplug

Just to make it more interesting, as usual there is a totally unrelated to motorcycles part that will not rust in the mix, can anyone see it?

Yes I could have raked the grass but that would have been too easy, a little like high definition photos that show better detail when blown up!
Chippy, the rubber hook thing is the tank rubber with 1/3rd missing, I can't show a high definition photo as it went in the bin. Here is a closer photo:

I took your advice, Greg and bought a Piuma. Going to keep this one as a rider and leave it cosmetically as it is so as not to be scared of riding her. Runs starts and goes beautifully with the kickstart shaft seemingly all good. Just waiting on some parts as we speak from Inmotion. My first post on this forum so wanting to get back on to the Italjet pages you had on here Greg? When I work out how to post a picture I will

I had a Piuma years ago. Red and white one, - it was a bit overweight. I recently learnt that the motor started life as a Ducati design -for a 4-stroke, having a fairly heavily engineered bottom end. (Nothing to do with the Desmos BTW). But the 'powers that be' (read American marketing men) insisted on making it a 2-banger, which annoyed Fabio no end and he washed his hands of the project! So then Tartarini got hold of it and adapted it for the Italjet.
