Hello all,
New to the forum. Just signed up this morning. Hoping someone here has been through what I’m about to do so that I can learn from their experience rather than my mistakes. My son and I are restoring my dads 1974 TY250A. He bought it new in 74, had his time with it and passed it along to me. I rode it for a few years in the early 90’s and it has sat in various garages untouched since then. We tore it completely down and started cleaning each and every part as we reassemble. I have both side covers off of the motor right now. Right now I can get the shifter to click up once and the nothing. Down once and then nothing. It’s like it settling in between gears. Before I start spending too much money and throwing parts at it, Does anyone have a recommendation on where to start? And also does anyone have a pdf of a service manual that’s more detailed than the original owners manual that I can purchase?

There is a PDF copy of the A4 sized Service Manual (and lots of other things) available for download if you look in the files section of the facebook page called "Yamaha TY Owners and Appreciation page"
