Drum brake shoe lining material

Post by David Lahey »

I've had lots of brake shoes relined with oversize material through brake shops with mixed results and have decided to start relining my own drum brake shoes. I'm hoping someone on here has done similar and can suggest a supplier.
The closest I've got so far is to make an on-line enquiry with BCA Friction Materials in Sydney, but have not heard back yet. They do list a lining material made for vintage cars and motorbikes.
I'm pretty sure there are places overseas that could supply but has anyone successfully bought brake lining friction material within Australia?

Tony P. had his Italjet relined using friction material designed for crane winch drums, nice and soft.
He reported a good result.
Hope this helps

I can remember reading a few years ago that forklift brake linings work well in Trials bikes so see if anyone has some of that in stock David.
