Road Registered

Hi ya
Need your help again, we have just been told that when we ship our bikes out, there is a possibility that we will have to have them road registered first, even though they are not road bikes and have no lights on them it's still a possibility, do any of you no anything about this?

Hi Leigh,

You won't have to register your bikes for competition use, or for use on private land.

In Queensland, if you wish to trail ride on public land (like state forests) you need to have a motorcycle licence and a road registered bike. As far as I know there is no hope of registering a trials bike. Actually my neighbour just registered a wicked quad bike for farm use, but that is restricted to roads in our immediate vicinity and it has to carry all the lights and indicators etc. I suppose I could do the same with a trials farm bike and use my fingers as indicators - much like I drive my Jeep. I'm not sure what the go is with the other States.

Any idea yet on when the big move might happen. Is your young fella back on his bike yet? Cheers,

It might pay to contact Australian Customs. I think there is something about being able to drive a UK registered car (because the steering wheel is on the right side) if you are a visitor. Other than that there should nothing to prevent you becoming a permanent resident and shipping in "competition use" bikes.

Of course there is the 300% import tariff if the kick starter is on the gnorw side :wink:

Thanks for the info, it's just what the shipping guy told us, he said something about the immigration might not let it through without being road registerer, so I don't think we'll no much until we are ready to ship out. Still no news on when we will be coming, we're still waiting on selling our house, the market is quite slow at the moment and we're getting really pi**ed off with waiting we just wanna get out asap, especially as we are coming up for winter here and I HATE winter, so dark wet cold and gloomy, it's really not nice.
Jordan is back on his bike, he had his first trial 2 weekends ago and got on brilliantly, I think the rest done him the world of good, have got a couple of club trials coming up, but he's working towards doing the last National in October at the Isle of Wight, it's meant to be the best one of the lot, so fingers crossed he doesn't do himself any damage in the mean time.
You don't happen to know anyone that's moving to England and want's to buy a house do you?

gnorw = wrong as in left opposite to write (or was that right)

I can't see why you would be required to register something to get it out here as the registration is not valid here anyway. You may be able to drive a UK registered vehicle here for a limited time but as we have different compliancing requirements generally any vehicle less than 25 years old cannot be registered/or imported unless complianced to our rules. This should not be the case when a trials bike is not required to be complianced and not allowed on the road here at all.

in my defence it was really late and I was very tired ha ha.

yeah, BJ suffers from a rare disease called Old Fartus Genus, we get it after riding trials bikes for too long. I am in the early stages meself. Your balance gets better after a few amber medications and confidence grows as well..

With the rare disease that BJ has, must come the ability to spell better. I am very impressed!!!!! although GNORW is a bit of a worry.

P.S We have rels in England with their house on the market, too, and they are having just as much trouble selling. :roll:
