Post by Tee-Why »

To remind those that the Dakar has started today!
This is the worlds toughest rally.

Catch it on SBS each night at 6.00pm

It would be awesome if he did a write up for this when he gets back, posted on Trials Aust :D

It is interesting to note the quad competing also, and a 2CV entered.
Wonder how far they will go?

It is interesting to watch channel 2 Race to Dakar.Showing it some what from a layman's view well small team anyway.man that would be ultra tough to do by yourself.Especially the 24 hours section through the sand dunes i think it was a 250km section.

Hi all,
Sorry to put a downer on this years Dakar, but today is the 1st anniversary of the passing of Andy Caldecott, our own Dakar 'Legend'.
For those who don't know, his wife Tracey was expecting their second child when he crashed last year. Mitch is now about 7 months old and will never know his Dad.
There has been a family trust set up for Tracey, Mitch & older sister Caitlin, go to http://www.andycaldecott.com.au or the KTM Australia website for all the details, if any of the trials community would like to donate.

Here's to Andy; Always remembered, chasing his 'Dakar Dream'.

cheers
outfit.

For those who would like to know;
There were 2 Aussies who finished the Dakar
Their results were, out of 132 finishers

64 C. BARRIERE VARJU 71:35:11 + 19:58:18.00
125 M. HUGHES 95:53:07 + 44:16:14.00

Top effort one would think
