What model Mikuni carb came stock on a TY 175 C, 1976?
Are kits still available for the carb?
What would be available and recommended as an upgrade carb?
Thanks

It's a 22mm carby made by Mikuni called a 525 (the Yamaha TY175B and C model prefix) which was made especially for Yamaha for the TY175. It was common for bike manufacturers to do things like that back then and ensured that Yamaha will make money from the sales of parts for the carby because the slide, needle, needle jet and pilot jet are of a pattern that Mikuni don't list in their catalogue. Yes standard parts and a range of pilot jet sizes are available from Yamaha dealers. The main jet is available as a Mikuni part in a huge range of sizes.
Options
Bob Ginder (B&J Racing in the US) sells new Mikuni carbys that fit and are jetted for the TY175C. They are not cheap.
The Mikuni carby fitted to the Yamaha TY250Z shares very similar external dimensions to the TY175C carby but is 26mm venturi and they are as rare as hen's teeth and the jetting may not work with a TY175. If you were going for a 205cc conversion on your TY175 this one may be an advantage due to the bigger venturi. 22mm venturi size is ample for a 175cc TY175. Is that what you mean by an upgrade carb?

Respnse to David's carb upgrade question
David,
What I meant by the term "upgrade" is finding a more modern carb that would work/fit on the stock 175. However, if I am reading your post correctly, I understand that the actual carb body may be hard to locate, but the "bit"s (slide, jets, etc) are available. Did I get that right?
Thanks,
Ted
