These slides have a Kodak processing date of May '77, so I'm thinking they're from '76 or early '77.
MX pics are Beaudesert I think, can't remember where Trial was other than being SE Qld.

In hindsight, I think the Trials pic might be early 1975 because I don't see any 158/159 Sherpa's yet, I seem to remember them arriving maybe mid to late '75 because that's when I got one. The MX pics are '76. The old man never took a lot of photos so it's possible it took 2 yrs to use up all 36 shots (rolls of film were 12/24/36 shots), and then he didn't get the roll processed until May '77.

The scanner I ordered has arrived and I'm learning how to use it. I've only scanned a few colour slides so far. Yet to try doing negatives.
I took these photos in 1976 in the front yard of my parents' house in Suvla St, Balmoral, Brisbane.
The special occasion that required taking photos was that my friend Colin Lough who lived about 4 streets away had just taken delivery of his brand new :montesa Cota 172 and had brought it around to show it off.
Colin had road rego as part of the purchase from the Brisbane Montesa dealer (Bob Anthony Yamaha-Montesa I think). Soon after these photos, Colin fitted a bigger rear sprocket.
The TY175B in the photos is mine which I had recently bought second hand from MX racer Dave Wilson. It cost me $450 and was a bit battered around but was what I could afford. I think the new price at the time was about $800. The TY175 was also road registered but was missing the front number plate.
Colin and I still own these same motorbikes. Colin's is unrestored original and still runs and rides. Mine has had a very full life and morphed through many reincarnations, rebuilds and modifications and is the bike that is currently known as my Hotrod TY175.

I took these photos while spectating at a trial held at the Tivoli complex near Ipswich in 1975.
The Yamaha outfit rider is Robert Gough (No 53) and I'm having trouble remembering the name of Robert's passenger. Hair is way too short to be Gary Jackson.
The OSSA outfit from memory was ridden by a father and son team but am struggling with their names.
The other outfit I think is a 247 Cota and I remember the people but am struggling with their names too.
I'm sure someone on here will know their names.

I think these photos were taken at an LRMTC trial at Blunt's Quarry at Mt Cotton in 1975 or early 76. All three photos were taken after I had done a lot of cosmetic work on this :Bultaco: model 99 325 Alpina.
I initially rode trials on a :suzuki TS185 in Trailbike class in 1975 then sold it and bought the 325 Alpina and rode in Novice class. In 1976 I bought a second-hand :yamaha TY175B and started riding trials in C Grade.
I was stoked to find the negatives for these photos today. I think my sister may have been the photographer.
It's also possible that these photos could be from more than the one trial because it looks like I'm dressed differently in the photos.

I don't actually remember taking this photo but it looks like a Sunday morning before an open trial at Ron Boyle's Armstrong Creek cattle property, located South-West of Dayboro. The Bultaco rider is Dave Batterham (NDMTC). I don't recognise the other rider. By the way my bike (N87) looks, it is 1976.
The property was very good for trials but it was hard to fit the trial calendar around the timing of cattle management activities there.
One day around about then, NDMTC club president John Hunwick led a trail ride from this property across to Ron Boyle's Lacey's Creek property, mainly following ridge lines. I remember Robert Marsden rode his OSSA Desert Phantom on that ride. Not the most suitable bike for following wallaby tracks. Is was a great, fun ride.

Wheelie day at my parent's farm at Worthing Road, Thornlands.
Well that doesn't narrow it down much. Every day that we rode motorbikes was wheelie day back then.
Riders/posers include me in the flanno shirt, Darryl Must with the bell-bottom jeans and Terry Wilson in the long-sleeved shirt. Straight, flat, mown fire-breaks were very suitable wheelie venues.
I see my XL Falcon wagon in one of the photos and Darryl's Valiant ute was there too. I just spotted my Dad's :yamaha AG100.
Where the pile of old bricks is, is where my parents built a house for their retirement a few years later. Those bricks were used to pave the courtyard
Ha! I just noticed Darryl's footwear!

These photos were taken at a NDMTC trial at Ron Boyles property at Upper Lacey's Creek in 1976. This wonderful property adjoined the State Forest and was the property directly upstream of the Bruce Baker Lacey's Creek property that was used for NDMTC trials many years later (in the 1990s and 2000s)
Riders shown here are my friends John Heidemann (RL250), Colin Lough (Cota 172) and Terry Wilson TY175C.
Hardwood tomato stakes can be seen marking the section boundaries.

These are photos from a NDMTC trial maybe late 1975 or early 1976 also at Ron Boyle's Upper Lacey's Creek property.
Riding the :Bultaco: 325 trials outfit is John Hunwick and passenger is Frank (Shorty) Hall. They started the NDMTC in 1975.
John's sidecar was used to cart the tomato stakes (section markers) around.
On the TY250A is (Brian ??? his name will come to me) who I think was the Treasurer.
I don't remember the person coming up the steep bit.
I'm riding my first trial on my 325cc :Bultaco: Alpina with knobby front tyre and looking suitably gumby.
Somewhere there's also a photo of Steve Byrne that I took at that same trial. Even though I took a great photo of him riding at this trial, I really only met Steve in the late 1990s when he called in here on a holiday trip after seeing his photo up on Trials Australia and making contact. Back in 1975/6, Steve was on his honeymoon and thoughtfully brought along his trials bike!
