After reading all the replys I still don't think Ben's question has been answered so I have made this a poll question.

There is way to many variables to answer the poll question properly with out some form of discusion to validate why one is better than the other.

Hmmm....

Which one would win in a tie breaker?.....just need to count the Zeros!! :P

But then again, winning and personal success should be total seperate things.....shouldn't they?

Best of balance.

Like I said... Anyone who has won numerous national titles (and some of ours) can't be relied upon to give a staraight answer unless you ask the right question.

Maybe the poll should be...........?

At what level of competition are you willing to go home with a beat up body, deep cuts and a bike that looks like Dilo rode it for two years????

Or, do you enjoy testing yourself and still coming home in one piece even if you failed dismally?

I like to think I can always clean it.... all of them......... but a five every lap (for blue) on the same section means it is too hard........ I should able to get it as a messy three at least once!

What is wrong with a ride off or a count back between a few of the better riders??

At least it gives them a real test under pressure!

Interesting result so far. If scores are even, doesn't the rider with the most cleans get the trophy? Yet we are feeling better about getting consistent 2's rather than mostly cleans and a couple of 5's. Scorps, if you ride clubman you can always take a harder line to give yourself a challenge. And why wouldn't an 8 year old be better than us olf farts who just started riding? Get used to it.

Hmm. interesting... I actually came across this last trial... I was able to get a couple clears in a 10 section lap, but the rest were 3's n 5's.. but for me this was lack of stamina. I put so much effort into getting the clears that I lost the energy for the remaining sections, and stuffed them up. and of course some sections I simply wasnt ready for yet so I took a 5 and took my own lines through... In regards to accepting clears than 5's or getting 2's all through all depends on ones own competitiveness me thinks. If it were me, I would want to get the best score possible for each section, as a challenge to myself. but if I were lazy I could focus of half of the sections, get minimal pionts, then simply have a break for the other half and take 5's... not for me, i wouldnt be doing myself any favours by denying the opportunity to try out a new path. :?

At the end of the day, it's still 20points total.... So all the same on the scoreboard, but dont disappoint urself cos you took 5's when you could of easily just did the section (dont fall off) and at worst got a 3, hmmm so with that you beat the score?

You know there's no success like failure,
and that failure is no success at all

Nice question Ben.

For me, if I cleaned the first six and 5'd the rest AND the 5's were the result of the difficulty of the section rather than me getting tired, I'd say the section setters were not being consistent.

I would much rather get a 2 in every section.

Cheers,
Keith.

PERSONALLY I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT TO RIDE AGAINST YOU FELLAS WHO THINK ITS BETTER TO GET 10 2S INSTEAD OF 4 5S BECAUSE I WILL BEAT YOU EVERYTIME ON A COUNT BACK. ALSO BY TRYING TO CLEAN EVERY SECTION I WILL IMPROVE MY RIDING SKILLS BECAUSE IM RIDING TO CHALLENGE MYSELF. SECTIONS SHOULD BE SET SO EVEN THE TOP RIDERS IN EACH CLASS DROP 1 OR 2 5S EVERY LAP, THATS HOW PEOPLE IMPROVE AND IM SORRY BUT IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE SECTIONS DROP BACK A CLASS ITS THAT SIMPLE. IN S.A. AT THE MOMENT WE HAVE 10 CLASSES TO TRY TO CATER FOR EVEYONE. WHICH IS REDICULOUS.
