Hi Fonzy,

Are you suggesting that Kev should have won the event with a sore finger and a broken bike??….Banana’s :?

I don’t know about you, but I use my fingers all the time when ride my bike. And if my fingers are sore enough I stop riding. And when my bike is "broke" I prefer not to push it over the boulders. As this results in many 5’s and more sore fingers!!!

I suggest you take Kev up on his offer. And explain your concerns to him.
Because I for one enjoyed reading Kev’s report.

Kev, If your at South Maroota this weekend, can I join that club? Because I can’t find that event in the NSW calendar ??…Is there something on there this weekend I am missing?

Best of balance.

press releases

Good job Kev, posting a report after each major event.

I reckon it'd be good to see a summary of each expert's ride.

It gives those of us not present, a bit of an idea of how the event actually went.

It was pretty entertaining last year when I was following the World Rounds around Europe, to get on the internet and check each riders press release after the event.
There is always some interesting excuses and diplomacy thrown around.
All good stuff.

So other Aussie experts, HAVE A GO!
Tell us why you won or lost.
What was the defining moment of the win or loss?

Give me something interesting to read on the web page each Monday morning when I should be working.

One suggestion though, (yes Kev this pointed at you) if you write a report in the third person, it kind of reads a bit funny.

example:

Jo Bloggs participated in the 1st round of the world championship event.
Jo is arguably the best rider in the universe.
Despite significant adversity, Jo came up with the goods for a win.

by Jo Bloggs.

This sound a bit conceited to the average reader and is a little hard to take seriously.
Personalise it with some "I did's" and "I could's", or just get someone else to author it.

That's my five cents worth; crucify me if you need to.

Fonzy,
i must admit i a little stunned that you wish to have a dig at kevin, (however i guess thats easy to do when you can hide yourself).if in future you wish to have a go at someone send them a personal e-mail to explain yourself and air your concerns especially someone who has given so much to the sport in aussie.remember its blokes like kevin etc who have lifted the profile of trials in australia have made things better for everyone including you.so when you have the ability to beat kevin at the next bendigo super trial then you may have a view worth listening to, some views should be kept to yourself.

Howdy Y'all,

I would be interested if someone could actually tell me to what Kevin has done for Australian trials. We don't get a lot of info of what is happening in NSW up in Queensland, but I am always hearing how various people are doing a lot for Australian trials. Lets get it out there and give them the recognition it seems they deserve.

Cheers,
Your friendly neighbourhood ScorpaMan,
Scorps.

WHat has KeV Zar done to trials? Heaps!

Post by Stu »

I think that slagging off at a fellow Trials rider has gone on long enough. Sure, I have had my few run-ins with the Zars, but nothing to bag them out about.
Kevin has had the 'balls' to get up and put his time and effort to report in Trail & track magazine over the years and Don 'Hollywood' Howison before him. I used to get the T & T just for the trials reports! There are no dedicated trials papers in OZ. So when I scan the magazines in the newsagents for any trials, I get it. Kevin has given a balanced view of trials in OZ and overseas, some have been biased, so what, at least there are some info for us trials nuts. He has asked repeatedly for submissions from the Clubs and I think he received very few.
Well done Kev.
Now is the time for all riders to promote the sport we love and compare the scrapes and bruises after each trial.

Thanks Neo.
I am sure that we are still the safest of all motorsport competitions.
I would like to go to the World Titles one day, but while I wait for that day I'll gladly watch you lot do your stuff. Doesn't worry me if you are in Junior's, Clubman, Classic, Women's even all the way through to the A Experts. We all take a wrong line someday and we get there with a smile at the of the Trial no matter how hard.

Teehee, yeah i am the perfect example about that! Last trial i went sailing over a rock with a wee bit too much enthusiam and flipped up and into the uppergrade section.... lol... just started laughing out loud while I picked up my bike and noticed my ankle had been squashed by my bike, aaah well, just keep smiling! And get on with the rest of the day. 8) And I very much love to hear other similar stories from our fellow trials riders. If someone is travelling around the world representing trials and has to choose between either telling a spectacular story, or deciding not to share over the embarassment of hurting ones finger than I would certaintly hope that they choose to write! Not everyone can win a championship time after time after time, and I believe that any one person always has room for improvement, and what better way to learn new techniques than to take that challenge; take the wrong line and make mistakes?? Learn from them. 'Hey i slipped on that rock and had to take a five' ' what can i do next time to avoid that?' And hey, I'm sure that many other riders would also llike to know this, I sure dont want to make the same mistake that they did! Summary: travel round, write up, share the tips oh great ones, and keep smiling!

Seiko.

P.S. Can I have a chocolate now? ;-)
