Interesting, frame as Dave says looks like a 348. Silencer looks like a late 349. Kiickstart is definately a late 349. Tank looks like an early 349. Motor is definately a 349. The rubber countershaft guard gives it away.
Dunno 'bout the pegs Dave. It could be funny from the factory, which would explain the frame.

Looks like that weird footpeg location on 348T's bike is standard on the 348T. It must be pretty hard to ride standing up with them so far forwards.

Got to remember the market the "T" (and Alpina and explorers) were aimed at. Greenlaners/trail riders. They'd spend most of their time sitting down.

True, but Alpinas and Explorers retained the footpeg location of their trials bike relative.

Ha. At last I found a reference for this mystery Cota. Its a 1982 348T and has either had the tank repainted or an earlier model 348T tank fitted. Have a look here:

Hi, The 348T in the photo's is at least 1982 or at least has a 1982 front wheel and brake set up and kick starte. The 1982 and later Cota 349's and 348T's (actually used 349.5cc engine) had the Conical hub front brake (Honda designed I think) and also had the new swing out kick start lever. I find this kick starter to be harder to use than the original but I have been told by both Montesa parts supply guy's in the US that most US riders prefer it
. I think all the later 348T's that came to Australia (possibly only 2-3 bikes by that late stage of Montesa independent production) looked like the one pictured. The picture of the multi colour one above seems to be a Euro only model as it only seems to appear on Spanish sites.
