Bigem wrote:Mate, it was worth the effort. Very very nice. Where did you get the seat/cover from?

Hi Andrew
Following is a link to a seat cover from the UK. I recently sourced one for my TY and all worked out well.
I hope this helps.

Hi Everyone,
Gary, I know this is not what you asked, but I'm not much of a restorer. So, I have decided to give you an action shot on the Sherco Surf. If you like, this is an example as to why old bikes need restoring!

Hi guys, can anyone tell me the stock shockie length on the TY175. Is it 320mm eye to eye or 340mm?
All the manuals I have tell me nothing, and the rubbish that was on the bike are 340mm, but I do not think they are the original shocks anyway.
I received the new seat cover from the UK on Monday, and picked up a new chain tensioner(NOS) from the States which arrived today.
I have just about finished re-bushing the frame and swingarm, have a nice new set of conical head stock bearings to go in once the frame is finished, and will start stripping the wheels for the new spoke sets I have coming.
I will be stripping the motor to give it a once over, have a gasket set coming from the UK for that, so it should be a nice fresh little engine when completed.
Couple of pics of what I am starting with and about half of what I have picked up so far.

Hey Bigem looking good
Standard length for TY175 is 318mm and most people run 340mm shockies.

Thanks for that David.
I think my little pig may turn into a silk purse, bits are showing up from all over at the moment. Its amazing whats still available for these bikes. My plan is to have it up and running by Conondale.
I might have the KT sorted by then too with any luck, and I bit of time!!

Not museum but fresh top end and ride ready for clubman twin shock....thanks to the owner Adam, for lending her to me, Dave L for the time and effort and Susan for letting me indulge in a great hobby.
'Captain Carl' rode her at Denman in Nov. 09 to seal his B grade championship.

Good stuff Mark
I had forgotten about that "before" photo. It looks like Darcy is a pixie dancing on the seat.
David
I also just noticed the dirty shale of Gladstone and the red volcanic soil of Childers

Hi Dave,
Yeah thats a cool shot you took of Darcy.....any chance you'll post your owned from new TY photos and what she looks like now [the 200cc]?
By the way the ferrosol red kraznozem soil [red volcanic] is deadly when it comes to riding fun.....especially currently on unused cane tram cuttings [some of them are least 8m high amd im guessing about 35-40 degree slopes]....just don't wear white :).
And for the punters here's Dave's shot of the tys carbie. Dave was amazed that it still ran. the inlet side was 50% crudded over.....

OK I will soon post up a photo of the TY175B taken when I first got it.
I'll also post a recent photo of the same bike too, but because I like my bikes to look the way people remember them, it will be pretty much the same apart from the thicker (TY250 forks) and Falcon shocks.
