I was very sceptical of the 4 strokes till I rode a 4RT, then I thought hey this isnt bad, then I hopped onto the Sherco 4T and quite liked it. So I bought a 4RT, In short, the best bike i've ridden, smooth easy to use power and beautifully Balanced.

Ride both in sections and see what you think!!

I have owned a 2007 290 Sherco as a complete n00b trials rider, but reasonably experienced off road big bore dirt rider, for a few months, I have now owned a 320 Sherco 4 stroke for a year.

If I was into just trials competition, I would have kept the 2 stroke.... as any numb nuts can ride one it they are so forgiving, will go to almost stall and recover. They are also simpler to maintain and easier to work on, if you are not mechanically inclined this may be important.

I found the differences in center or gravity and weight insignificant to me as novice.

If you ride other bikes, especially off road and are more using it for cross training the 4 stroke is more attuned to the other bikes, this may be important to you as it was to me.

Yes the 4 stroke has lots of engine braking... but hey it has a throttle and a clutch too.

Many who have ridden mine have found it intimidating....But just as many have found it smooth, controllable and loved it.

Most on the Internet trials forums with negative opinions about 4 strokes do not appear to own a 4 stroke, but as always on the Internet, everyone seems to have an opinion they must voice.

My advice, stop asking.... you'll get no end of useless advice, most of it being someones else's preference, go find dealers or people like me that will let you ride their bikes and find out what you like for yourself.

my thoughts exactly. i know this is an old thread but having recently swung over to a beta 300 i wonder if the critics have spent much time on a four stroke... each to their own i guess. i made a bit of a parody vid about the at-times ridiculous debates on various forums.

^ This guy knows

Not having to worry about tinkering with carbs and fiddling with the choke is a huge plus!

So there I was, sititng on my couch wiht my eight year old watching this with the expectation that it would be like the other noobmeister videos......how wrong I was. I had a few things to try to explain to him. I gave up and decided to direct attention away by watching a noobmeister training course.

That is the case (the disclaimer can only be read if you pause the video, and it too is of limited value  ) plus the more adult oriented concepts in some of the photos (ie the message they are conveying). It's not a big deal, but it wasn't in the same vein as all of your others so I got caught out.
