A friend from the UK emailed me the following information on how the Spanish set up their twinshock trials. To me it appears as though they have tried to cater for all riders needs, abilities and bikes.[obviously the plate colours are Spanish and would be changed]
Blue plate - Experts [any twinshock]
Green plate- Trialeras [ 'b' grade any twinshock]
Green plate Pre 80 [ 'b' grade ]
Yellow plate- Classic [ 'c' grade any twinshock]
Yellow plate- Pre 72 [ 'c' grade]
We could add
White plate- novice [any twinshock]
white plate- Pre 65
I know it looks a little complicated at first, but it gives every twinshock bike and rider a competitive class to ride in. At the moment there is a massive shift towards the TLR honda but with this system there is a class for people to compete on any bike and be competitive.
Just a thought
cheers Greg

I have'nt competed since last century but may come along to this event if I can get some sort of short term licence and sections are TL125 capable. If not I could loan my bike to my mate and come and watch. Daryl.

Hi Goffy,
I am doing a bit of a resto on an air cooled mono at the moment, and the NSW titles has been in the back of my mind. Not sure if the bike will be ready or if I will have the time to attend, its temping though.

Hi All
Off topic but... Re the Air Cooled Mono Class - We had the class in 4 of the 5 rounds of the NSW titles this year but didn't get one single entry... At the last committee meeting we took the decision to keep it for the NSW Titles Two day in 2012 but we sure could use some entries so in short, it's there if you want to have a go, 5 entries needed to make it a class.
While I'm off topic – I just picked up my copy of the new Classic Trial mag from Paul A at Hell Team- if you haven’t got your copy yet (and no, I’m not on commission...) it’s a damn good read – highly recommended.

That good Paul that we have Sold Out, but we should have more in stock by Friday. We have airfreighted more out, and some back issues we had holes in. Also airfreighting the new Scottish Dix Days photograhic history book from John Hulme in that lot as well.

Specific classes for various twin-shocks is a very good idea, as its ridiculous to suggest that something like a 72 Bultaco is comparable to an early 80s Fantic for instance!
It would also be a good idea to add a specials class, where any bike with 2 shocks, air-cooled motor, and drum brakes could be ridden. ITSA in the US has a class along these lines, and it seems pretty well supported.

Hi All
This is a great debate and it’s hugely encouraging that the interest is building but before we build up our hopes too much, under the current GCR’s, for 2012 the Classes available for NSW Classic and Twinshock ‘Championship’ status are as follows:
a) Classic - for machines Manufactured before 31st December 1964 and excluding machines manufactured in Spain,
Pre-1965 heavyweight solo:• Non-unit construction engines with an original capacity of over 250cc,
• Unit construction engines with an original capacity of over 350cc.
Pre-1965 lightweight solo:• Non-unit construction engines with an original capacity of 250cc or less
b) Post Classic •
Twin Shock – for machines manufactured before 31st December 1985. The machines may not be fitted with disc brakes or monoshocks.
•
Specials - Pre-1965 machines that have been modified so as to provide a ground clearance or chassis performance more in keeping with this era shall compete as specials in this class.
If we would like to add more ‘Championship classes’ we will need to start getting our submissions ready for presentation to MA for 2013. I think I speak for the rest of the trials committee in saying we would be very happy to ‘row the boat’ with MNSW and MA for whatever the riders would like in future years.
Now that doesn’t mean that the promoting club can’t add more sub classes in the Sup Regs for 2012 but just to be clear – any additional/sub classes won’t carry championship status.
For sure there will be a lot of work to do on the Sup Regs and I know that Toby and the boy’s are keen to absolutely minimise any ‘fun policing’ regarding eligibility. Carbies spring to mind and I know I’m preaching heresy here but we’re more likely to gain significant ‘performance’ improvements by fitting a set of Magical fork inserts and a pair of sorted Falcons than by fitting an OKO flat slide, the former are eligible, that latter is not – but I belive that can be fixed in the sup regs for the NSW titles in 2012.
Toby C has already mentioned earlier in this post that the intention is to run the sections as per normal Denman trials with A,B,C and Clubman lines. There are likely to be ‘awards’ for each class on each line but it’s likely that ‘Championship’ status will be awarded to the riders riding the higher grades. All this stuff is still to be worked out but that’s sort of the plan.
So let’s keep this debate going, let’s give the Denman guys every encouragement it’s a brilliant initiative and fully deserves our support.
Best regards
Paul Mac

Why don't they call the GCR's the Lets Spoil the Fun rules. Most twin shock riders I know couldn't care if it is a championship class or not as long as they are competing. I was riding Denman in the early 90's and as long as they use a similiar format there will be no excuse not to have fun. Did I mention fun here? We all know already the sections will be too hard or too easy, the weather will be too hot or wet or cold, as long as the Denman crew get to run it their way it will be worth attending.

So Clubman grade is not within the Champion status? Only A,B and C Grades?
