Thank you all. The Italjet were called an Italian Bultaco from the time they first came out over here in 1981 and the first Bernie one had Bully forks and exhaust and a heap of other parts on it. They also have the same bore and stroke and ignition timing. They are shorter though. I had one parked next to my 199B one day and the Italjet was about three inches shorter which surprised me. I know they got more traction than a Sherpa T. Graham.

Whew, I'm glad that Graham only referred to Italjets as Italian Bultacos. If anyone was game enough to call the SWM an Italian Bultaco it might get a bit of discussion going.
One thing in the favour of Italjets is that being green or having green bits, they are halfway towards being the bike to ride at Conondale this year.
relax, nothing is under control

SWM = Italian Bultaco???? mutter mutter...swear swear #-o
An SWM is like a world championship [also won the Scott and Scottish 6 day] winning Italian designed framed piece of functional art with a turbine smooth Austrian engine. 'cause thats what its is !!!
I'd rather be a D grade participant than an A grade spectator....

Hello all. David what have you done ? I think you might have caused another innerstate incident here. Not even I would call a SWM an Italian Bultaco. Even though Bernie rode them and rode them very well. For those who don`t know who I am talking about it is Bernie Schreiber who won the world title in 1979 ( Bultaco`s last one ) then joined Italjet half way through 1980 and almost won the title again and then joined SWM in `81 or `82 I can`t remember which year it was off the top of my head. His first Italjet was a Bultaco painted green if you can find a photo of it, then they changed their works bike to suit him and their first promo shot of his Italjet had Bultaco forks, front wheel and exhaust on it. I think that this post has also promoted me to A grade as well so I might leave it there. Graham.
