I quite agree, its just that mine is a less beautiful example of that particular variety. And yes, it is still a quite capable machine for what it is, but it does have one significant weakness and that is the nut that holds the handlebars. If a bit of balance, skill and talent could somehow be infused into that, then the bike could actually show what it is truly capable of.

Thank to the organiseres and volunteers who made this, the 10th Brooweena a success.
The trusty TL managed to carry me all weekend and i even managed a few 0's.

Next time Tim has to ride Open, he's way too bloody good for Clubperson.

Yes it was great fun, as usual. Perfect weather too. I'm going to put up some static photos soon and there are some riding photos on Mark Reed's camera.

Quite predictably it was yet another excellent weekend. For me personally the high point (literally) was getting to the top of that hillclimb for the first time ever, thanks to the availability of the less rocky route. The ride back down was worse for me than going up.

There was quite a decent little .... cluster? clump? gaggle? menagerie? What is the collective word for a group of little orange beasties? Reluctantly I must admit it wasn't quite as impressive as David's earlier picture of all those green things. There was a good collection of very pretty and beautifully presented bikes, as well as some less impressive ones, and some very talented riders to watch too. (I didn't go to Victoria recently, so I'm still easily impressed). It was a good fun weekend with good people in beautiful surroundings.

Many thanks to the organisers and helpers, and particularly to the observers whose workload was constant all weekend. And finally thanks to the new property owners whose generosity allowed this event to continue.

Well done to the Maryborough boys who prepared the sections and the Central QLD Trials club [ Mac Greg and the team] for all the efforts and all those who attended. Big thanks to Pat, Mike and other observers and scorers.
Highlights for me were catching up with the Brooweena regulars, clearing the scottish on day 1 and seeing Ireland ride on day 2. Also Jordan's floating wheelie turn out of section 8 or 9 for a clear on day 1. Cedric rode brilliantly both days as did his daughter Tharyn and Dave's lovely Bully roaring up the Scottish on day 2 for a clear in second gear. Although I didn't get a good look at it, Stewart's log removal technique without footing was also reportedly spectacular. And one of my favourite moments was Pete Casey's ascent of the Scottish with a very cool wheelie out of the section. And of course Jeff and Steve's rides on their evergreen machines [TL250 and Bully Sherpa respectively] which are the bikes I first saw them ride when I started at Broweena in 2006.
It was also good to strength test a $10 handlebar and it would be fair to say I want my money back.

A case of double bike misidentification at Brooweena!

I walked up to my Saturday bike during the trial (Cota 348) and swung a leg over, then noticed that the score card was attached to the clutch cable, instead of the name board. I then realised I was sitting on someone elses Cota 348. Hmmmm... I thought I must be on Frank Van Heerden's Cota 348 or Frank's sister Tharyn Thomas' Cota 348. I was certain I had parked mine where this one was, but looking around the group of bikes parked waiting for their run through the section, the only Cota 348 I could see was the one I was sitting on.
I then looked further afield and noticed Tharyn Thomas riding through the heavily-spectated section on a Cota 348 and the penny dropped. Tharyn had not only got on and started the wrong Cota 348, but had ridden it (very nicely) through the section without realising it was a different bike. I guess that says a lot about how similarly both bikes were set up.
I wonder how long the accidental bike swap could have kept going if I hadn't loudly burst out laughing and spilled the beans.

Oh the shame!!! I'm never going to live this down... am I?
