Thanks for the info on the gas
when i was charging my shocks i found it hard to get the right pressure because the chamber is so small (eg, to simply check the pressure i would loose about 20 psi) so i regulated the air compressors pressure to 70psi and jammed it!!!
How do i do this with another type of gas?
Yes Dave i know what you mean about a recess, it would make it a lot easier.

Set ur regulator to desired pressure and open your gas charging chuck, close off chuck and remove it loss is no more than 1-3 psi, as you said before don't check with gauge as you lose too much gas, I have a unit set up to check pressure and charge all in one.
Will get it and post picture for you, check link for chuck used

A number of tyre outlets are now offering filling with nitrogen, but you would have the same problem of filling to the specified pressure without losing too much on disconnecting, or checking the pressure.

Thanks for info and the link to the strut coupler, if I'm gonna keep on playing around with shocks, then i should definitely invest in one.

I use a regulator that connects to the end of the air hose with a quick disconnect which allows connecting to compressor in the shop or air bottle at the trials. Works well.
Thanks for the photos David, mine are due for seals.
