Anyone know how much paint it would normally take per coat of a frame?
I havent used it myself, but will be after seeing some test pieces. Vintage car and bike buffs swear by it. A bloke showed me some engine plates painted with brush, the gloss sheen was as good as a gun finish, amazing! It also likes humidity to cure (hygroscopic?) a wet night outside and painting in the shed works apparently.
But a few things I have found out, base coat is not UV resistant, needs top coat that is. It is quite expensive per liter, can be thinned to spray. Not a great range of colours, base black and silver. See the web sites for more info about top coats:

What about this:
http://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/KBS-RustSeal-_p_10.htmlSame kind of product as the POR-15 but many more colours. I used their tank sealer kit on my stock KT and it came up a treat!

Scorps, I'd forgotten about KBS, thanks.
I'll probably go with the POR 15. PPC aren't too far away and a mate also swears by it.
from
http://ppcco.com.au/need.htmFrame painting.
Our recommendation is to sand blast or key it with sandpaper and use the Marine Clean and Metal Ready and then apply two coats of the Blackcote for a good glossy black finish. We don’t feel you need to use the POR-15 (RPP) first, as in most cases bikes don’t have a major rust problem.
Marine Clean 1 lt
Metal ready 500ml
Blackcote 500 Ml
Approx. $90.00Westy, sorry for the hijack!

Garrison... Dude this is the advice and info I'm after.
I know I gave David the nudge with his molasses information. There's a bloke at work who has a patent that involves molasses. Long story.
Are you going to get a KT thread going like this one? I wanna see what's going on with your bike from start to finish.
I have been in Darwin for the weekend. It's flat as with no where really for trials. No hills, no big rocks.
Here's some news for the fellas who are after RL guards. I am planning to be at the fibreglassers next Monday. I'm hopin to pop a product out.
I'll start the side covers too. Maybe. Yeah why not.

Westy, I've been pretty slack with taking "before" pics for the thread.
Usually goes something like "Ooh I should take pics of this stuff" then I box it up to send off and "ooh bugger forgot to take pics".

I've got some bits coming back from blasters and polishers so I'll get some pics.
Plenty of hills and rocks out of Darwin down the Stuart Hwy. Not sure how popular motor sport is east of Kakadu, but there's some awesome terrain in Arnhem land. You'd be amazed where those old 40 series landcruisers could go.

I like the one with the 4 stroke road bike sound track.
Theres a bloke in our club (Drew Wickerson) does great dubbing on videos and he dubbed the sound of a harley with open exhausts being ridden with the vision of my 8 year old son riding his OSET electric trials bike.

Tomorrow is the
big day...maybe. Let's see if I can finish the moulds AND pop out a product.
I have been set on an
Orange and
Silver colour scheme for a few weeks now. I think it's official.
The trial run with the chain tensioner was a success.
I have a problem with the tail light assy. Both filaments have blown. I doubt that it's a mechanical cause of failure. It has got to be electrical. Hmmmm thinking....

No mud guard products today. The final lay-up is on the moulds and I am going to release them on Monday.
I'm also going to rub the side covers back over the weekend and get them ready for moulding.
