Greg

The seat next to the RL tank bears an uncanny resemblance to our favourite TY250 trail seats.

Hi Everyone,

Alastair, you are right they are very similar!

Here is the photo of :suzuki RL 250 rolling frame, I think gravity was making it hard to post?

Have just been back and reread the last couple of pages and had a rethink:
David Lahey wrote:My latest Basket Case
This is the "before" photo

Mark K wrote:I hope that came with more parts than what's in the photo. There seems to be a few bits missing. Maybe I didn't look close enough, but it seems to be missing a clutch cable. Oh, and everything that goes at either end of that and every other cable.

TriCub wrote:What!!! Can't you see the other parts , they are hidding under the rust and dirt.
He has plenty of Yamaha bits. Maybe he will make a Yamataco or a Bultaha.
JC1 wrote:M80 David?
Do you have a suitable engine?

David Lahey wrote:Yes John it's a M80. What motor do you think should go in there?

Kombivan wrote:What about a M80 motor

TriCub wrote:Maybe you should go "Green". No I don't mean Ossa power or Kawasaki.

EEEEElectric, you work at a power station, so cheap power on tap. Just need a very long extention cord.
The E-bikes get around Isle of Man quite well!!!!

David Lahey wrote:There is a bonus to having the trailing power cord too - observers would know for sure if you crossed your own path in a section

JC1 wrote:Or, from left field, maybe a Suzuki engine ??

Bully fanatic wrote:Having a hybrid Bultaco does not concern me one little bit. Have a look at my Sherpa. A M 199 B frame, highly modified, a M 151 engine with a late ignition case and a late primary case, modified exhaust front pipe and rear pipe, different wheels and forks. Mine even has a modified airbox made out of aluminium. David, the late primary cases did change from the earlier ones. The middle bottom case bolt is the oil drain bolt as well. Are you planning on using an El Bandito engine in your Sherpa maybe David. The MK 2 ones are 360cc. Also some of the early four speed engines have a right hand kickstart as in the previous mentioned engine..

Kombivan wrote:RL250 good bikes. I remember S's on early suzuki's rather than Suzuki.

BOGWHEEL wrote:Bultaco clutch cover collection???? David, why aren't you riding the best brand all the time brother!
Soon as my shoulder heels, I will finish my M116 framed M187 powered M85 look a like.
What other marque can you mix it up as you like.
Not being biased in any way.

What's this about not riding the best brand Terry? Sounds like you have missed seeing me riding the 1968 model Sherpa T

JC1 wrote:David, did we ever establish what engine is going in the M80 frame?
Greg, Now that's a basket case. Love the chain - definitely a Suzuki tragic!

Collectively we can solve a lot of problems, now that I think about it, David would you like one of these?

That photo of you riding M49 suggests you are conducive to owning a Hybrid!
You could make a SUZACO or maybe a BULUKI?

You have an excellent memory David! As you know, swapping parts and helping one another is the main reason why I started Basket Cases. My thoughts were a :montesa rear hub assembly with sprocket and :kawasaki KT forks will make me happy! All of which you have already given me along with countless tips and advice along the way.

Are we using the usual Trials Community Couriers or would you like it sooner as the Easter Trial is most likely our next trip to your fine State?

Merry Christmas Everyone,

Alastair, snapped a photo of RL250 with the big seat for you, it kind of reminds me of my first ever bike and yes sadly well before BMX! It was a Dragster and the biggest part was the seat.

Never realy had a close look at an RL frame before.
Looks a lot like an early Bultaco frame somewhere around an M80, wonder how that could have happened.

Overwhelmed by the positive vibes

The steering head has been cut and the angle improved, the swingarm has also been lengthened to maintain the same wheelbase. Hopefully these mods will improve the handling.
