I've got no idea what it would be classed as,most people seem to make a fuss about bikes being eligible for the P65 Scottish, I have no interest in riding that trial, its 475 miles away... There are loads of excellent events far closer to home that I'll ride it in,maybe do the Sammy Miller series on it in a couple of years time. For now I'll carry on doing them on my rigid AJS as all my running twinshock bikes are thankfully gone.
So it will be what it will be,a much lighter and better handling version of what is still a big lump to ride, even with aluminium wheel spindles etc.

Re: Basket Cases RL 250 Action shots
Happy New Year Everyone,
Paulo, thanks for sharing, look forward to seeing more progress updates.
Jon, it seems you are filling your Basket in a way I had not considered, I usually start with something more complete and then fill in the blanks. Your components look superbly handcrafted and you obviously know what you want.
Just sharing some action shots of the trusty RL from our new cooler summer riding venue:

Re: Basket Cases
Hi All, not been on this thread for a while, Hi JonV8, I'm back in Aus permanently so won't catch up again until perhaps the 2016 Manx.
The Classic rules are a lot more pedantic over here and even square barreled Cubs have been hounded out of Pre 65, thats after Chris Leighfield won the National Classic title 7 years on the trot with a square barrel but everyones happy now, we have introduced a new Pre 68 "Specials" class so guys can drag out the M10's, tricked up Bantams and Cubs and compete against similar aged bikes.
I like the Ariel project, I am working on a 350cc Goldie rigid here, do you know anyone who is running one in your club,,, I need some advice.
Happy New Year to all

Re: Basket Cases
Hello everyone,
Nice looking RL there Paulo. Yes Roger I would have to agree, that classic bike being build looks very nice already. Greg, nice looking place there you have found to ride.
On a different note, I found a poster of Peter Paice that I thought I had lost many years ago.
So here it is for everyone to enjoy.

I can't swim very well,so may not catch up at the Manx ! You'll be back here before long...
There are a couple of blokes I know who ride rigid Goldies, first off is Chris Hurworth who has a very high geared bike. Doesn't seem to stop him riding well tho... But the bloke who would be easiest for you to get hold of is Graham Howes who again has a beautiful example. He is on Trials Central now and then as bb32a so you could contact him by PM. He does complain that it wont grip on mud,and that its a bit long in the wheelbase. They do make fantastic music when you are following them between sections.
Greg, I've not built a bike like this before,I sold my old HT5 as there was so much of it I wanted to change I couldn't see any point in stripping it.I sold it to a mate and I'll use all the money,(And more from the TY/Serow project bike I've just sold too.) to build exactly to the spec I want.It also means another pre unit bike will be in use and competing...

Re: Basket Cases
Thanks Chippy, that poster brings back memories.
WOW, Dunlop trials boots! Steel tow cap gumbies and garden gloves were the style of the day. How about the cool Yamaha overalls, NOT!
Note the rubber bashplate to replace the original TY250A fibreglass one that lasted about 5 mins on Aussie rocks.
This photo shoot for Revs was done the day before a trial. The photographer made me ride through the water over and over all day. He wanted just the right amount of spray. I was grumpy because I then had to pull the bike apart, clean and dry everything for the trial.
Cheers, Keep your feet up. Peter Paice

Hi Everyone,
We think alike as I was wondering the same thing, do you think he was trying to jump the bus or just crash into it, he was successful if it was the latter. Either way I won't be lending him a bike!
