If this keeps up we may be forced to introduce a "Yellow Breatsed Twinshock Warbler" exclusion zone sooner than later. Can't have you two heavyweights, figuratively and metaphorically speaking, wantingly tearing up our sections too much and too often now can we??????

Wollongong appears to be a much bigger place when riding the RL around town.
Is it time to ride yet?

Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
Hi all , here is my latest project / find and this is after I pressure washed it 3 times.
A friend of mine had this tucked away in his shed, has been in the family from new.
Knowing how much I like rebuilding bikes he gave it to me.
Here are the as I got it photos, has now been striped to the last nut and bolt inc the motor and the rebuild is under way.
I will keep posting as the project go's along.

There's is an RL250 for sale on eBay from the same seller. The paint is rough and the guards are not original. The tank, seat, engine and frame look pretty good from the photos.
I don't know about the current bid. I'd like to get a lighting kit as well if I were to be enticed.

Crikey! That RL has 2 hours to go and it's up to $2,025.00, without a lighting kit.
That must only mean one thing. I could sell mine for at least $25,000.00.

Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
I suppose I should at last post some pics of my toy. After looking at the stunning resto shots of the TY250D that is under the TY Challenge section I could not bring myself to post these there, so here are a couple of shots of my first foray into twinshocks. The bike is basically quite rideable right now, main thing I want to get sorted next is the wheels, the front has quite a bit of runout so I will get them both trued up and possibly respoked at the same time. I dont intend to do a full strip and rebuild at this stage as I fully intend to use it and expect to fall off a bit! Bottom line is its bags of fun and I love it!

Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
Thanks to everone who has posted pics and articles of their twinshock bikes, and the restoration info and pics. I have enjoyed reading and looking at all the bikes I grew up with.
I have just got my 1981 Montessa 248 running today and made it around the backyard a few times and it is now ready to be put to the test. I know the bike is not to original colours or fully original, but I wanted a few mods to make it a better ride for more fun. The bike has been fully stripped down and all components either bead blasted or hydro blasted and polished. All new bearings and seals fitted to the engine and gearbox, and also wheel bearings and seals. The rear shocks are YSS supplied by Suspensions are us. Handle bars, foot pegs and front guard are Sherco with S3 handle bar clamps.
Cheers

A nice clean Monty, well done lad! How much were the YSS shocks? were they done to your specs? (weight etc?)
Feet up, as always!
