Re: Basket Cases
sounds like a broken wire prob behind the stator or spark plug wire connection could also be a sticking kill switch or short.
Re: Basket Cases
Broken wire seems to be the go. We were able to regain spark by moving the wires running from the cdi to the coil so that will be the first place i have a better look at. I was missing out on track time on the weekend so i gave up.

Re: Basket Cases Mystery RL Rider
Hi Everyone,
Firstly Thankyou to Logan River Trials Club for hosting an excellent Queensland Titles on massive granite Boulders at Stanthorpe.
Quite a few people came up and asked about the
RL rider in the BLACK and WHITE photos and to be fair to everyone, I suggested they Post their suggestions here for an accurate answer.CLICK on PHOTO to enlarge and drag image onto screen. Now I am starting to think that more people read this than actually post comments? The correct name DID come up, maybe around the Team Hillbilly Campfire?

Re: Basket Cases
Greg,
Now you have blown up the photo, I think I can recognise the rider. Plus we spoke at Stanthorpe and you said review what you know. Now, I have a good idea whose name is on the Twinshock Trophy as it has resided in my house at one time and now I remember who once visited your place and rode many of your bikes including the RL. That would be how you got the photo.
I believe the rider is my neighbour - one Troy Chadwick.
Now this is solved Greg, please give us more of your puzzles as YES many people read your posts but hardly contibute.
Cheers, Terry Telfer

Re: Basket Cases
I was thinking Troy Chadwick as well Terry but David Lahey guessed him or Wayne on page 60 and did not get confirmation from Greg. Maybe he missed that guess? I happened to be present at the Team Hillbilly campfire when this topic was being discussed and I recall Ronny Chadwick saying no one has won the masters on a RL so you might be on the right track saying the photo may have been taken on Gregs bike. I am sure he will let us know.
Re: Basket Cases
Had a go this arvo at cleaning up some earth connections, she fired a few times but wouldn't keep running. More fiddling tomorrow.
Re: Basket Cases
Could be a stuffed coil as well not working as it get hot, or condensor, positive wire touching an earth or a broken wire seperating and conecting as the wires move.

Re: Basket Cases
I don’t think I’m ever going to guess your mystery rider Greg, so hopefully I can clarify this so somebody more knowledgeable than me (pretty much everybody else) can solve it.
What we know:
It is someone with very blurry features, or perhaps they look better in real life.
They have ridden a SUZUKI at least once, and apparently in a section, or at least in the same vicinity as tapes.
Their name appears on the Twinshock Masters trophy, which excludes me, and a few other riders.
It is neither Troy, nor Glen Chadwick. It isn’t Chippy. It isn’t Josh Lewis and it isn’t Jamie Isherwood.
It is also apparently not Greg Harding, whoever he might be. It isn’t Ruben Chadwick, although he can look at the trophy and see a complete list. It is not Wayne Chadwick, nor Craig Gillies – not sure if he’s on the trophy, but it isn’t him in the picture.
John Isherwood was mentioned, which got the response: “I am pretty sure Jamie is the only Isherwood on the trophy. Like usual, your line of thought is on the right track and you are closer than I think you realise.” Who or what is the connection that makes that guess so close?
What I don’t know:
What I don’t know would fill a bookcase full of encyclopaedias, but for this purpose it comes down to two questions …..
Firstly, other than the few names ruled out above, who else appears on the Twinshock Masters trophy? It is a popular event and was a long standing tradition long before I came along, and I wouldn’t like to even guess how many names are there.
Secondly, who might have access to a SUZUKI trials bike? It doesn’t look like it has to be a museum quality beauty. It just has to exist. After all, they are the bike of choice to be seen on at this year’s Twinshock Masters (and I don’t want to have to wait till November to see the trophy for myself to try to figure it out).
