David, Mr Murphy had his finger on the pulse, it was at the bottom of a slippery gully at the furtherest point we intended to ride!
It is PLAUSIBLE that ITALJET used DUCATI motors. Here is a photo of magneto which looks bigger than the original designer intended. I have marked where other mounting points have been rendered obsolete, so more than 180 degrees around crank has no magneto cover screws.

You may recall my Italjet is fitted with a Gas Gas kickstarter. Not sure what model it is from but it is marked "ME 25936060"

I also have an original that looks a lot like the one in your photo.

Thanks Nathan, that might be the best option as the broken pin is the same size as TY 175 and I have broken them with half the capacity of my PIUMA!

Sorry to do this to you, but the TL125 kickstart in the pic is incorrect, certainly for the earlier model K series. It may be right for the later model TL125 though.

Jools, you are right with the latter, but I didn't have an earlier one to photograph. Interesting that you pick up on that and missed the deliberate faux pas in the same Photo!

It is an early Gas Gas aluminium kickstart which fits the Italjets. Steve Goode in England has them at a reasonable price for a brand new kickstart. Italjet only supplied the heads and barrels for their bikes. The bottom ends I think, were a Moto Morini which Ducati used as well in some dirt bikes. Graham.

Hi everyone,
I think you are onto something there TerrY. Greg always likes to stimulate interest in his photos and posts and has done that. I think one is a gear lever on his stop sign! So that's how you keep fit Greg. You ride old bikes, which are temperamental, then ride them to a place and you stall or fall off and then you have to work like a slave to get the bike out!

Greg must have a lot of time on his hands to display all those kickstarters & label them. Actually I think that MAR Kickstarter is familiar! What were you doing with it Greg?

I'm glad you are doing research on Italjet kickstarters as I also have been told that a PE175 with a 16mm spline will fit the Italjet spline... But I have never checked it.

With my Italjet Kickstarter shaft actually broken, I'm now thinking to get another one made, but have a larger diameter spline on the end. That large 4 stroke of the Scott will probably brake the shaft again and maybe fit a decompression thingo as well. (Someone may have already suggested this).

Thanks Graham, ITALJET must have supplied the engine cases and judging by the kickstarter in David's link, maybe the kickstarter as Well?
Terry and Chippy, you are getting good at this! Do you know what the real kickstarter looks like, in fact does Anyone? Yes the MAR kickstarter is yours Chippy, when are you coming for a ride so you can pick it up and how did you know about my Crash Test Dummy Training Program?
It was my first ride after fixing gear selection problems when I broke the kickstart. Gear selection had always been a bit tight and it took me a little while to work out what was going on. The aluminum detent bung was deformed, most likely been hit and jammed the ball end part (bottom right of photo) not allowing the spring to compress. When I pulled it out, there was a crack most of the way round, so it was easier to break it off to release the ball end part. Luckily YZ80E detent bungs are the same thread and made of steel. TY 175 (bottom left of photo) ones are similar, but the bore is too big.

Darren, bikes in bits is how I like to see them, your 250 PIUMA is looking the part, a little different to when you gave me a ride at Kyogle! Are they Stainless Spokes?

Having the handlebar mounts behind the headstem can feel a little funny, (sometimes called Tiller steering makes the bars swing in an arc) is another complaint I have heard about ITALJETS. My long arms make me a little cramped with the standard set up, so I have moved the bars forward 32 mm.

Has anyone else done this, I would be interested in feedback as I am not sure if I am simply justifying the feel after going to the Effort? Theoretically, manipulating the handlebars can give the same handle grip location in relation to the headstem. That is something that I learnt when reworking handlebars, I even experimented with 6 bend bars which work well on TY175. Both Franken KT and FANTIC testarossa have had the same relocation and both feel better than standard. As for the PIUMA, it feels better standing and balancing.................
