Darren the Italjet is looking very nice, I think you may have your magicals upside down though, particularly if they're the RA model. refer attached.

Hi Everyone,

Darren, I am GREEN with envy! Your PIUMA is Sweet!

OK, so how many times have we heard ITALJETS have a CHROME BORE, but do They?

My 350 PIUMA looks more like a cast iron sleeve than a bumper bar from the 1970s!

That's a big hole for the piston. How many cc is it?

Yes Greg, the 350 had a liner but the 250 had a chrome bore. Could never work out why the difference!

I have had 4 italjets over the years, all of them 325's and all of them had cast iron liners. The Piuma is a much better bike than the earlier all green bike. A genuine Piuma should have alloy axles front and rear as well as a completely different frame made out of smaller section tubing with various brackets etc made much smaller. They also have a lightened primary drive flywheel [drilled out] as well as the marzocchi forks triple clamps and rear shocks. The only difference that I knew between a 250 and 350 was the carb which is 28mm on the bigger bike and 26mm on the 250, but having said that I have never owned a 250. Philippe Berlatier rode a fairly standard looking one to fourth place in the world championship in 1984 against all the emerging monoshocks, not a bad effort.
Cheers Greg
PS Back in the day you could buy a conversion kit to switch the brake and gear change to the opposite sides, which I did of course

Well I do like to brag how long-lasting :yamaha s are so here is the latest.
A few weeks I decided to check the points on my 1974 TY250A. It has been a few years since I last checked them and this time I decided to have a look at them with my super-strong reading glasses.

They looked a bit dodgy so the bike finally had the original 1974 points replaced.

It still hasn't ever had the cylinder head off, and runs like a swiss watch
It did get a new magneto side crank seal about 5 years ago, which come to think of it was when I checked the points last

This photo shows a new Chinese 'Mikuni" that I am planning to try out.

The carby beside it is a 24mm VM mikuni originally from a :yamaha AG175 and which came on a TY175 I bought that had a 1981 DT175 motor in it
The venturi size of the Chinese carby is pretty much the same as the VM24 and it was advertised as being a replacement carby for a Yamaha DT175, so there is a chance the jetting might be close for a TY175. The first bike I want to try it on is my 205cc TY175

pretty sure I saw one of those bashplates advertised somewhere recently. I've just had a look in the usual places I look but can't see it. Suggest you watch eBay especially the USA and UK
Are you wanting original correct TY175B muffler or just something that will fit and work?
