Progressing on, I have just acquired a Cota 200 with a Cota 242 rolling frame. So this may well be my project for this years twin shock masters in November. Not sure what I will do with the rolling frame as yet.

Chippy, I have a little confesion and it concerns a 242, this has been on the back burner for a while:

This is a pic of my basket case over in the States awaiting a rebuild. It's a '83 SWM Jumbo albeit in many pieces....
I have a whole Jumbo over here in OZ to play with so no rush.

Gomey, very nice project and there seems to be some rare and collectible bikes coming out of the woodwork lately.
Rod, can I put my hand up as being GREEN with envy as well, your is spectacular!

Sunday night quiz time.
I posted a photo earlier on today to show something on a Cota 348 frame, but there is a rarely-seen (black coloured) frame hanging up next to the Cota frame. Can anyone (except John Cuff because he already knows) identify it? Here is the photo again

David, my guess is Bultaco M3 and it may be one of those rare models with a RIGHT hand Kickstart?

Not many had the long rear frame loop. - thinking Sherpa S - But that chunky side stand?

Sherpa S has a short rear loop that is angled up steeply. Getting close though

Early Sherpa S had long rear loop - Campera?

Rod, no it's not a boat-tail Pursang, I think that would have engine mount lugs under the motor

Greg, no it's not my M3, they have a huge gusset between the top tube and the front tube

Bogwheel has it right - it's a 5 speed Bultaco Campera frame

OK, so I had a little time today to have a closer look at my 242 Basket Case and form a bit of a plan starting with weighing the bare frame. The scales were zeroed with the bridging piece of ply in place and it weighed 8.7 kg.

The trouble is 8.7 kg is not accurate as the frame has been molested without the respect I think it deserves.

Other than the extra grinding and welds, the frame is quite well made and well thought out without any obvious weak points.

What if... those 242s of Chippy & Greg got KT engines in lieu of the missing/troublesome Mon engines? Now that would potentially make a very nice twinshock (tho the KT engine is probably too long unfortunately, but it's not beyond your skills Greg)

Thanks John but I am not sure I want that mission, plus I want to keep it all !
My thoughts are a KT motor in an frame would make a very rideable hybrid and it would keep it GREEN!

David, apparently it was going to be a Honda hybrid, I am not sure which motor as I lost interest when I saw the welding.

Here are some photos of the swing arm, 1.5 kg including the bearings is pretty Light!

Are those spherical bearings on the swingarm shockie mounts or just steel inserts?
