Re: Basket Cases
David, they may indeed look pretty, and I also understand fancy new fasteners can cost a pretty penny, but $119,900 is a bit rich for just a few bolts isn't it? Were they bolts destined for the NASA space program?

Re: Basket Cases
I think they could be made from Unobtainium Mark. At that price they have to be!

Re: Basket Cases
Ah the car ad on the newspaper - I see now - I wondered what you guys were going on about
The really shiny Ti bolts were about $5. I had bought a couple of them for Darcy's blinged Whitlock TY175 and they looked so good on it, I then bought some for other Yamahas, which then got me motivated to get new bolts for other areas on the Yamahas.
Things have calmed down a bit now and I haven't bought any nuts or bolts for a couple of weeks - phew!

Re: Basket Cases
I reckon that bolt for the top of the triple clamp was good value too. It is aluminium and cost about $20

Re: Basket Cases
David ... I reckon the orthopaedic surgeon who rebuilt my shoulder must have used a few of those unobtanium bolts during the process. The cost would substantiate that suspicion.
Perhaps in a year or so when things have healed properly I could engage a bottle of whiskey, a Stanley knife and a 13mm socket and snig a couple of them back out to bling up the TY.
Alastair.

They used unobtainium staples on my appendix wound too, but I haven't found a use for them on the bike yet

Just leave them in the bottom of your toolbox. Sooner or later something will break and you can use them to stitch it back together again.David Lahey wrote:They used unobtainium staples on my appendix wound too, but I haven't found a use for them on the bike yet

Re: Basket Cases POSITION VACANT
Hi Everyone,
Well I suppose this is really aimed at Western Australian readers as that is the only State that I have not ridden a Trial in Yet! In the early Nineties I had the pleasure of driving through Australia's largest State from top to bottom including beach hopping, kayaking, fishing, 4WDing, mountain biking, camping and sightseeing, I especially liked the places that ended in Up!
Riding in
earlier this year really opened my eyes as to how good it is to arrive at a venue and have a bike waiting for you, Geoff Lewis kindly prepared the GO
and transported it across Bass Straight to the Beautiful Mount Joy Trials Heaven just for me.
HAPPY DAYS!
So I am now wondering if someone in
would like to fly over to
and ride the Aussie Titles this Year? My plan is simple, I will prepare a bike, deliver it to the venue a couple of days before for
to practice on. There are a couple of bikes in my shed that would pass scrutineering at this level and I am open to suggestions. My first suggestion is the Grey Fergy of Post Classic Trials bikes, my
TY 175 B Little Blue Beastie. A fairly competetive bike with some results, it came third at WDTC Twinshock Masters and has won MTCQ TY Challenge outright.....
Twice!
All I ask in exchange is to have the favour returned next year in
, it DOES not need to be anything special like the beautifully prepared GO FANTIC, but needs to pass scrutineering and I am not fussed what make or model as I will ride Anything!

Re: Basket Cases
I'll second that. Love the pic too.
