It is 4 months until the MTCQ TY Challenge at Easter but I like to be well-prepared and the christmas break has provided a chance to start preparing a bike.
This is my replica of Peter Paice's 1976 Aussie Title winning

, and while it was a few years ago that this was built up from a Basket Case, it has still not yet been ridden in a trial.
Based on a TY250B, the original was built in secret for Peter and he remembers it as his "best-ever TY250". The main differences were that the motor was lifted 25mm, toolbox section of the frame removed, upper shock mounts relocated and a TY175JC muffler.

A big thank you to the middleman in Team Boniface for being an excellent middle man. There is a few wrong parts, some bits missing and at some time must have been a Yellow Submarine as there was water in motor, gearbox and carby. Can
Anyone help us with parts as we have been looking for a

TY 80 for a loan bike to fill in the gap between full size bikes and the

Im thinking seriously of doing the TY challenge this year and I have a few questions for you all:
I ride Clubman in NSW with a white name plate(green if I go to Denman), What colour is for the Clubman grade for the Challenge?
Does the TY250 have to be in pristine condition to enter?
And when is it on again?
Cheers.

Hi Everyone,
Stu, you won't be disappointed with the TY Challenge!
As for my TY Challenge, I have spent a little time on it lately, removed the motor and worked out how to straighten the frame which must have had a fairly big collision with something Solid! Interesting how the frame has bent and forks are Straight!

The motor came out easily so the motor has held the frame in shape and limited the damage to just behind the gussets.

Framework to hold engine mounts and something for the Porta Power to push against to reverse the damage.

This is back to the standard dimensions and luckily all went well as there is no twist and motor bolted back in easily for now.
STOP THE PRESS ! This has just turned up:

In my haste as I was curious about the contents, I didn't even check who or whom had sent It and there is no senders name? Obviously they know Me! Thank you!

In breaking news, I have scored another TY 80A motor (451 0XXXXXX)! Well actually I have had it for over a week and pulled it apart for it's first time ever and I didn't break anything! The crank feels good and the standard piston has minimal wear so it will be new bearings and seals, basically everything into the matching number cases and it will be a little closer to getting it going.
Still chasing the missing parts (see photos) if anyone can Help? Now that I have been talking about it not being broken for a paragraph, I suppose it is no longer news and definitely not breaking news really?

Thank you David for the pictures, it does shed light on that part of the modification.
