Found an engine with the engine number 1N4 00****, can anyone throw any light on what it is please.

Hi Roger,
It sounds to me like a 1976 TY175JC. That was the bike with the battery box, lighting kit, and extra bits for road use.

A handy site for checking out TY engine and frame numbers is:

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to of the land Downunder. Did your TY 80 belong to a young Bruce Wayne by any chance as that might explain why it is black and upside Down? Or is it a Northern Hemisphere thing?

My TY 80 has a sheet metal plate welded to the frame under the front of the motor and I can't see any mounts for a separate bash plate.
Here is a wishlist for parts if anyone can help, happy to swap parts or cash if you prefer:
Rear silencer
Oil tank cover
Chain tensioner
Air cleaner boot and cage
Fuel tap and carby (full of watery white stuff)!
Brake shoes
Cables
Tank rubbers
Front brake arm
Front guard
All of which can be secondhand and worn to match the rest of the Bike!
Here is a photo of engine case and gearbox parts that are in much better condition than I expected considering both were full of water.

Thanks Greg for the input and ideas. You are correct in wondering if this bike was from the cave at Wayne Manor or some stealthy spy bike from Area 51! Not sure of her history. Your guess as good as any!
Today I remounted the reed block and put the airbox on with a new filter. My plan is to see how the motor runs with fresh gas, filter and plug. Also I rebuilt the Teikei carb and the Teikei petcock valve. There was no airboot on her either. In the long term I'd like to do a complete resto on her. But as you alluded, here in the northern hemisphere, its winter and a cold one in the Pacific NW. Hence a dark and cold garage. I am still waiting for parts (tires, tubes, bands, shift lever)to arrive from the U.K.
By the way Greg, great job on splitting the case. I wish I could do that or learn from you.
Cheers,
Patrick

Just going on the TY 80 theme some strange little beast found its way into my place. How it got there is anyones guess. It looks a bit strange to me as it is a TY 80 Bigwheel with little wheels on it. The strange thing is it has the 10 month of 1978 as the build date or the compliance date on it. As far as I can work out that would make it a TY 80 JE if there was ever such a thing. Here are a couple of photos. Graham.

Graham, there seems to be a little confusion about wheel sizes, I think they are the big wheels. Smaller than a TY 175 but bigger than a TY 80 A or B! This Blinged up or is it Blinged out TY 80 JE might look out if place in your Gumboot garage with the Beautiful :bultaco: ?

Perhaps it would be more at home in my Bike shed? :yamaha

Hmmm maybe it's an XR75 tank? You can tell I'm not a Honda person

Here is a nice chart of Yamaha trials bikes and their prefixes
