Picked this up on ebay a few weeks ago. Had one back in about 80 - 81 which wasnt much tidier than this one but from memory was much lighter and much more powerful...??? I also have some sammy miller side covers and muffler to fit. Rear shocks are rock hard so will need to replace them before I ride an event on it.

G'day chaps.

I introduced myself on page 6 with an Italjet 350T which I have since sold. Since then I have been pining for another twin shock trials bike, but finances are tight and I have other projects on the go.

Then yesterday I saw this on eBay with a very cheap buy it now price, and without hesitation I bought it.

RL250, pretty sure it's a '74. Has a non-original tank which I think is RM80? (I would be happy to purchase if anyone has one...or a flying pig) but otherwise looks to be quite original. Was sitiing for 10 years so needs a good clean and lube! Also has a fairly big hole in the magneto cover as can be seen in pics...might get one of those nylon ones I've seen in the US.

Was told it ran but was very smokey even for a two stroke...whatever I thought... Got it home and had it running within an hour, and apart from what feels like low-ish compression the bike is now running fine and selecting all gears sweetly, just needed a new plug and some packing in the muffler to really make it purr. Will be taken out for a proper test before being pulled apart for a rebuild, not sure to what standard I'll go yet, but it will include painting the frame silver again and finding a tank!
