I have been an enduro/trail rider for decades but as a total new comer to Trials, been riding for a month now let me tell you what got me keen.
Bought a 1976 Montesa Cota cheap to start. Twin shock gives me a chance to learn the basics without being intimidated by extreme obstacles. The social and friendly aspect of trials at the age of 47 is a big calling for me. The vast number of events held around SE Qld is amazing practically every weekend.
I will be buying a another trials bike before mid year, second hand model around the 2002-2006 year model.
Why because they are cheap and as a beginner a new one or a $6000 plus bike is going to be thrown around a fair bit.
When I saw the used bikes Hell Team brings in I got excited as the options are good and it made me realize I could basically pre book a bike in my price range.
In the months past every time something did pop up here in this forum for example that was in my price range it was gone so fast and the rest seemed to new a model which I could not afford.
I suppose what drew me into trials was the fun and social aspect and the fact that their is a bike at every price range.
To be honest if bikes cost $6000 up I may not have tried trials but I got in partly because of access to great second hand bikes at my price point.
The more people getting into Trials the better; how they got there or who they supported is secondary.
As to rules and regulations, age restrictions and so on is not for me to get involved in all I will say to many rules and regs and you will loose riders.
Fun, social and the fact that trials is a personal challenge
is what pulled me over from enduro.
Importing late model secondhand competition bikes hurts everybody.
