excellent Neo, good to hear, as we all know oil doesn't cure all problems but the 5/30 does work great, after this post started I got my local Repco to source all the last remaining stock of 5/30 penzoil that they had, so I've got some supply for a few years at least. Still, the castrol should be good also. I still warm mine up for awhile and pull the clutch lever in a few times before I put it in gear but yeah 5/30's the go.

Hi I have just bought a Sherco 290 2000 model, I bought it from Don in Canbera, he also supplied me some replacement oil for it. He gave me motorex 10w 30 gear oil and motorex 2 stroke oil. Has anyone else used the motorex gear oil. I to have the same problem with my clutch on start up, but once I take off and change up a couple of times it frees up, Steve. ps Neo is the Castrol 5w 30 still working well in your Sherco.

Hi Steve,
What Don has supplied you is the recommended oil from Sherco. Because he's a good bloke and likes to do the right thing
The Castrol 5w 30 is still working well in my Sherco. And I would not go back. But you need to be aware that Beach and myself took a risk when we use 5w/30. I believe that this has paid off for me. But the choice is really yours.
Best of balance.

Hi Neo, I just changed the oil this afternoon and put in the motorex 10w 30 and just on first start up the clutch is heaps better, the bike only jumped forward a little then the clutch was working good. The old oil that came out of it was definetely stuffed, it was cloudy and dirty, Steve.

I run Mobil 1 in the KTM beast (990 stupid fast machine) and Castrol ATF Dexron 3 in the Sherco box. I also swapped to Castrol two smoke oils too as believe it or not I had more probs with...you guessed it...MOTUL....
