I could easily be wrong, and its just a guess, but I'd heard that a young Dave Pinkerton had ridden in the area at about that time. He'd have been on a newish TY and I'd reckon he'd have been one of the relatively few amongst the "bush bashers" who'd have been wearing proper boots. He also would have been one of the few who at that stage had the talent for that sort of thing.
I must also add that there's no way it was me. By the time they were doing the sewerage in Indus street my TY which was bought in August 73 was starting to look a bit used, and not so newish anymore, not to mention the fact that I never had proper boots back then either.
