And yes it gets so hot that peoples' brains melt and run out their ears - well that's an exaggeration but it seems like that some days. Today where I work it was 33 degrees (91 degrees F) in the shade but only about 40% humidity. Last weekend we rode a trial and it was 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) and 90% humidity and no breeze (which is much worse).
It sometimes gets to 41 degrees (106 degrees F) in summer but the humidity is usually very low when it is that hot so you just feel like you are being grilled instead of being steamed.
Our sensible friends in New Zealand stop the riding at trials competitions if the temperature goes above 25 degrees. Ahhhh - bring on our "winter" which is great for trials riding

Coming from someone who suggests a Triumph motor wouldnt leak if the head gasket was omitted, thats an interesting point of view! Not sure how you would prevent the pushrod tube seals getting crushed and the motor getting completely covered in oil though?

Hello all. I can`t help myself on this one. I thought all older British four strokes came with a guarantee to leak from every oil seal and gasket and O ring they had in them. Thats why the Yamaha 650`s were such a success as they did the same. Graham.

Did you tension the bolts/nuts with a tension wrench? If so could you have mistaken the ft/lb reading and adjusted the tension wrench in newton meters. An error that is often done.
Anyway an easy way to look at it is, if it's loose then it was never tightened properly. If this is incorrect then why aren't we surrounded by man made mechanical devices that have fallen apart because the bolts/nuts have come loose?

Hello all. brt650 the torque wrench I used only reads in ft/lb`s as it is an old one. I still think the reason they all came loose was the paint compressing. And I did have my reading glasses on. Anyway I love causing internatational incidents. Graham.

I wonder was there any good reason for painting the head fasteners? Would it not have been better to get them re-plated perhaps?
