Someone posted somewhere a few weeks ago about the possibility of running three springs in their KT250 clutch, because it works well on a TY250 clutch.
I replied with how I had changed out my KT250 springs for some springs that came out of a TY175 clutch. I also posted how I had lost my notes from when I did the spring force calcs. Well tonight I found the bit of paper I did the calcs on so whoever you are, if you are still wondering about it here are the numbers:
The six KT springs that came out were 15 mm OD, 2mm wire, 7 coils and 31.5 long (rate = 165 lb/in)
The four TY175 springs that went in were 14.4 mm OD, 2mm wire, 7 coils and 31.1 long (rate = 186 lb/in)
So using four of the slightly stiffer TY175 springs, the pressure plate force was "baby bear" ie just the right reduction in pressure plate force so that it doesn't slip, but requires less force to release.
I had previously tried out the KT clutch with four KT springs, but it still slipped a bit in 5th gear.

Whatever you do, don't anyone tell Greg Harding about this because he and I have a competition going for whose KT has the lightest clutch pull and I don't want to give any secrets away

I'll take that challenge on too. KT with hydraulic clutch conversion vs Greg's KT setup vs my KT setup.
But has anyone got a KT with a hydraulic clutch?

I just had a look at those Magura conversions. They do look nice and on some twinshocks bikes you would hardly notice it was there, but the location of the KT cable entry would mean that the slave cylinder would stick out like dog's whatsits

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think my fork legs are less than perfect

They don't even look like they have ever been chromed .
Would KTM legs be long enough for my bike ?

Or, can mine be rechromed and ground.

Measured inside the fork bottom housing and it is 32mm across and 32.1mm in the for/aft direction at the top, but a bit further down it is 32mm compared to the fork tube of 31.8.
It's bored the same diameter all the way down with no bearings, just the aluminium.

Apparently off a Subaru cam shaft so easily obtainable.
The fork tube is the same dull colour for its entire length and no sign of chrome anywhere.
I don't know why this comes up with the wrong photo in the quotation.

This is slightly past the "basket case" stage but its still in bits so I guess it qualifies.
Its a TY175C 1976 and its at the "put it back together stage"
The frame and motor are done and its being built as a competitive twinshock bike. I have the complete wiring harness complete with headlamp, horn and ignition key and they will become surplus to requirements.
It will end up with new tyres, stainless spokes (only way to go) and new mudguards.
Some of the bits fitted in the pics are still to be finalised.
