Chippy! ta daaaa I just found the springs for your KT clutch. They were hiding inside a DT175A engine.
Does all this stuffing around with your KT clutch mean that Chippy's highly photogenic KT is actually going to be part of the KT clutch pull challenge?
It's been a hot summer and I've been spending more time in the workshop that out riding. This led to a flight of fancy to improve the damping action of the forks on my TY250A (the one that has morphed into a TY250 ABD).
This is the third set of TY250 forks I've fiddled with. The first set (on my Godden Majesty) has Race-Tech Gold Valves and much stiffer springs. The second set of TY250 forks I fiddled with are on my hot-rod TY175. These forks had Yamaha-Majesty aluminium damper rods fitted and still have standard TY250 springs, but I will be buying Magical springs when the shop opens back up in a few weeks.
The photo shows one damper rod with standard holes and one damper rod with different holes. I have since done both damper rods and done test riding and reckon it is definitely an improvement over standard damping. These otherwise standard TY250 forks had Magical springs fitted during last year which are stiffer than standard springs and provided better bottoming resistance, but I still wasn't happy with the damping action which seemed too busy even with 15WT oil and I wanted even more bottoming resistance without jacking up the spring preload or fine-tuning the oil height. Changing the hole sizes in the damper rods has increased both the bottoming resistance and the rebound action, making the front end feel calmer and smoother especially riding water-worn stones.
The upper, little holes remained 2mm diameter but is 2mm diameter all the way through instead of having a 45 degree cut going most of the way through. The bigger bottom holes went from 6mm diameter to 4mm diameter. Both pairs of holes are at the same distances from the end as the old holes. I blanked the old holes with tobin bronze but would probably weld them up next time I do some.
Hi all, yes Greg I had a slight typo when I wrote that the odd wheel of my TY's had a 410.5 wear limit. It is actually 141.0mm.
In my defense though, I was getting the willy pips with trying to post comments on here and being kicked out in 2 minutes. I've posted a couple of pictures for you to ponder over the original bike it may have come from.

Don, I don’t think those wheels are anything trials??... Any progress photos on the TY rebuild?
David, one of the KT fork caps would be great please and thank you again for the TY/DT clutch springs. I’ll just have to glue up the holes on the KT fork caps as I don’t like the air sound they make.
Here is the butchered one. I wish some people would leave things alone if they don’t have the correct tool..

That's all well and good Chippy but what are you offering as a trade? Greg has been doing a great job training me and I'm still very happy about the trading bits thing Greg and I did late last year
Cota 123, I found what I believe is 123 parts, but no fork caps..

Interestingly, That kick start shaft has a machined end where the spline should be. I need one for my 172 as the spline on mine is bent and twisted. Apparently the 123 and 172 share the same engine and gearbox except for the crank and barrel and piston.
David, i just thought I would check the plethora of clutch springs I have, but they are even more heavy duty, but the MAR only run five springs instead of KT 6 clutch springs.
