In previous lives, I have been B2, beer' o'clock baz and Sherco Shirley now I am just boring baz lol :beta

When it comes to motorbike innovations that didn't really take off, the chrome-plated aluminium brake drums on post-1972 :bultaco:

easily springs to mind.
You would think :bultaco:

would have learned a lesson about chrome plating aluminium from an earlier :bultaco:

innovation which was in the late 1960s, when they decided to chrome plate the aluminium engine covers on their dirt bike range. I'm sure it was very well-intentioned but the passage of time has shown that leaving the aluminium completely bare would have been a better idea.
One of my :bultaco:

is from that period and before I learned about the chrome-plated engine cover era, I bought a couple of spare engine covers that were the chrome-plated type from the USA. I'm yet to find a way to remove the remaining chrome plating so I can make them look nice. Here are photos of what I'm on about.

David, just thinking outside the box, can the chrome plating process be reversed? What I mean is if it is a positive charged consumable transferred to a negative charged product, what happens if the charge is reversed in a chrome plating tank?

David, unbeknownst to us, Sherco Shirly registered the username well before Donna bought her bike.

David, you really are a thinker, it makes sense to me so I went back to the basket and this is what I found:

Like most people I suppose, I normally associate Red tape with Government Departments! However in this case it is definitely Bike related!
Because of your initiative, I am going to give you personally a special clue so keep it under your hat:
Something tells me you screenshoted the photo and then used an electronic zoom? Maybe you would be better off using technology that existed when the :yamaha

was new?

I had a shed full of Shercos when I went by this name I have tried to change the name a fair few times but this forum doesn't let you change.

The tank is fibreglass and looks a beaut I can't find any signature on it. Will post pics tomorrow as I have the bike apart now. :italjet:
