It never rains it pours. A couple of weeks ago I had to fit different clutch springs to my KT250 motor because when the motor was rebuilt it was then a bit more powerful and I had previously fiddled the clutch pressure plate force so the clutch had just enough drive for the old worn out motor.
This time is a TY250B motor that I was running three clutch springs instead of the usual six springs. I fitted a WES exhaust and although it felt pretty similar in power to before, the clutch started slipping in 4th and 5th gear with very little prompting which was a bit annoying at a trial on the weekend where there was a nice little trail ride to and from the sections. So today (my RDO) it's back to six springs and repaint the clutch cover while it's off.

David, is the actuator under the motor standard or longer ?

I use a standard actuator arm and a high ratio hand lever.

Yes it's better to increase the leverage at the arm as you described, than to increase the leverage at the hand lever, because the tension on the cable inner is less with the increased leverage at the arm, which reduces the friction of the cable.

I'm currently at a bit of a loose end ... recuperating from surgery welding up the bones in my left thumb ... overcoming arthritis.

It got to a point where I struggled to operate the clutch at all after half a day on the bike. I pleaded to the surgeon that it was imperative that he reconstructed things so that I could lock on to the bikes grips (apparently you lose mobility). The final instruction just prior to sleepy time was that I needed to continue to be able to grip my favourite whisky glass.

Apparently the final request was common, but the first request was new to him.

Hope it works ... right thumb next in line.

My original plan for the slipping clutch on my TY250 with the three clutch springs was to fit all six springs. However the paint on the clutch cover took so long to dry that it gave me enough thinking time to decide to do it differently.
I've now fitted brand new Yamaha friction plates and four clutch springs.

I've got to the desperation stage with the paint and if this doesn't make the paint on the clutch cover go hard, I'm going to strip it off and paint it again with different paint.

in 2019 I was crippled by Ross River virus and could barely hang onto the bars but did have a ball riding at a low level at the Twinshock Titles at Tony Bax's place at Lowmead.
At the same trial in 2020, I had a broken finger and again couldn't grip the bars but had a great time there as an Observer.
This year, so far, my body is going well so I'm fairly motivated to do my best at that same trial which is on in a few weeks time.
Today it's raining, there's no trial on and I'm batching so the bike I'm planning to ride at Baxy's place is getting some serious workshop attention.
